Thanks I will keep them in mind as well |

S&W M&P-10
or DPMS AR-10G2 Anything more expensive than the S&W or DPMS isn't worth the money. |

A battle and a precision rifle are two different things. View Quote Indeed they are...... I listed 2 rifles that most would consider a "Precision" gun and one light weight battle rifle I will be shooting suppressed I will be shooting steel 99% of the time I won't go beyond 800-1000 yards (and that distance will be rare) I mostly shoot within 500 yards I do like to shoot for groups sometimes I don't currently on a bolt 308 gun so I would say one of the more precision guns could be the best of both worlds I am just torn because for what I would do with it there wouldn't be a perfect rifle ..... give some and take some .... or maybe I should just get a Scar 17 and a precision gun |

I would stretech it out a few times a year but I am not sure those few times a year would justify it ..... I do not currently reload so I wouldn't be making any loads to custom fit the rifle |

Save your self a butt load of cash and build your own, or just grab a DPMS GII.

Calling it a "battle rifle" because thats what most people refer to the light weight rifle that shoots .308/7.62 And no it wont ever be going into battle as long as I own it ..... I would rather whimper in my safe room |

LMT MWS for a widely issued rifle; LaRue for a not-so-widely issued rifle.

I have shot two of their 556 uppers. Very impressed with how it functioned and the simplicity of it. The reduced felt recoil claim is real. |

Having owned a GAP10, M&P10, and SCAR 17. The SCAR wins it by far for your purposes. The gap was insanely accurate but heavy and not really maneuverable, the M&P had some issues with cycling standard military ammo, LC m80 and PRVI.
The SCAR has been rock solid with all ammo I've used suppressed and unsuppressed, and I have gotten sub MOA with it. With that said, I will probably be trading the SCAR in for a Deserttech MDR if it is even close to what they are saying it will be quality-wise. The one I fondled at SHOT show felt great and would be a great little package for my purposes, and they have a good reputation for accurate rifles. |

OBR in 18" is what you seek.
If purely a battle rifle, then SCAR. If purely precision, I'm still not sure if the REPR is much more accurate than an OBR. The answer for your question is undoubtedly OBR. |
|
If I didn't just get a bolt gun for 1/4 the cost, and was going to drop the cash on the guns you listed, I'd get the Larue. But I've never owned a Larue gun, so I'm speaking without experience on what I'd buy.

DPMS makes a in my opinion nice .308. The one I fired would need a trigger, not a problem really.

There is a lot to be said for choosing a weapon that has been through some sort of vetting process. |

I do not think you can go wrong with either the LWRC or LaRue, but I really like my Armalite AR10A4CBF.
