"UPDATE: In another sign that Hulu is stepping up its game, the digital video giant has landed the SVOD rights to “Seinfeld,” cutting a deal with Sony Pictures TV for all 180 episodes of the enduring NBC comedy.

The deal is said to be valued at around $875,000 an episode, which translates to a nearly $160 million windfall to be split by distributor Sony TV, Time Warner’s Castle Rock and “Seinfeld” profit participants, including star/co-creator Jerry Seinfeld and co-creator Larry David. The pact is expected to be announced at Hulu’s upfront presentation on Wednesday. The series will be available on Hulu starting in June. The license term is believed to be at least five years."

I hope that this does not impact the over the air viewing of Seinfeld.

Anyone that enjoyed Seinfeld has already seen every episode multiple times.  Seems like a waste of money to me.

Why riot when you can buy it?

http://www.amazon.com/Seinfeld-Complete-Jerry/dp/B00EIJTLK4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430403028&sr=8-1&keywords=seinfeld+complete

I paid a bit less than that for my set, but $65 for the entire thing ain't bad at all.

Seinfeld is on syndication. They show like 2-3 episodes a day. No reason to watch it on Hulu, unless you want to see it in chronological order.

different contract all together. you have tv,dvd, rentals, streaming, etc. all separate contracts. this will have no impact on the other deals.

The last time I was able to watch Seinfeld was on TBS before I decided to fire my cable company and go to air, Netflix, and Hulu.  I suspect they've figured out that there are enough people who have done the same and the future of syndicated TV is with a cheap provider that is not only on demand but completely mobile and is compatible with Apple TV, Roku, etc.   Most of my Hulu shows I view through my iPad, and once in awhile I fire up Apple tv.   Why buy an entire cable package when, for $20 a month (Hulu and Netflix and Amazon Prime, if you have that) you have an entire selection of programs and movies from which to choose? Buy a good antenna for your TV and you have free air TV with prime time network programming.

You miss out on certain shows and sporting events but, at least for me, it wasn't worth the $100 a month extra I was paying just for a few channels I actually watched.

It's fucking Seinfeld. Guess they heard Amazon secured I Love Lucy and thought they needed to compete.

NEW content. That's what they actually need to create, like Amazon and Netflix are doing. Not licenses two decade old crap.

There's always one.  Saying you've never heard of someone like Lady Gaga or Pharrell is pretty safe.  Saying you have no knowledge of a cultural icon of the last 25 years strains credibility.
