So today we were ripping down a shed and burning the junk wood. Well there was a 4 foot black snake in the wall coiled up. My friend says get the .22 and shoot it. So I go to his truck grab his .22 rifle and shoot the snake. Well he had 3 chunks missing from his body and while he was barely moving he was not dead. What's been your experience with them in this regard.

You have to destroy the head or separate it from the body, preferably both. And even then you can't be sure.
But why kill a non-venomous snake? |
|
Still better than your burger. Plus a kill n grill is auto 10/10.

Did you bother to ID the snake before you just shot it? LOL, I looked through all the post for you before posting I've seen stories here and there about escaped pet snakes in HI but IIRC the only thing you'll really ever see in HI are sea snakes (very rare) and small blind snakes about the size of earth worms. |

The snake was resisting the irrational pussy ass fear of harmless snakes and laughing at you.

Probably a Rat snake and they are good to have around, non venomous.

I have said it in the past, and I will say it again. fuck snakes.

Senseless killing of a good snake unless you have chickens. They kill the rats and mice and other venomous snakes.

In other words the 15er and friend squealed like prepubescent girls.

Black snakes kill mice and other stuff and are good to have around . No poison and not at all dangerous . Bad shoot , I hope the other snakes riot . I have a big king snake living in my shop . I l;eave him alone and stopped putting out rat traps

Yeah, massive ignorance on the benefits of having a snake around. Ewww, SNAKE! Kill it with fire!
|

I dont like snakes, but I will leave a black snake alone because they eat mice and rats. Any snake that I cant identify is terminated with extreme prejudge though.

Why kill it? Same reason you people burn down houses for a spider would be my guess

Why kill a non-venomous snake? Why kill a squirrel? ETA: We hunt groundhogs for target practice. Squirrel are good eating. Groundhogs are destructive pests. Non-venomous snakes are actually good to have around the property. |

Why the fuck would you kill a black snake? Just leave the damn thing alone, it kills pests.

When I was younger I shot two water moccasins that were coiled up together making love. 3" magnum 00 buckshot from about 10 yards. It blew both of them completely in half, throwing the pieces about 10 ft off the ground. When they landed, the top halves took off slithering through the woods hissing.

Why would you shoot a black snake I guess if I was retarded, I might kill black snakes too.
Oh snakes, they're so scawwwy! |
