The original crashed in Europe years ago.

So what is going on here?

Gonna have that song in my head for weeks.

One of the best shows of the 80s imo.

It was a short lived TV series as well.

A while back there was a guy on Haakon's Airwolf website(i.e. ten years ago) who was going around buying up all the original prop mods for the Bell 222b. Apparently it looks like he finally got them all. I used to watch the website religiously as a kid and in my teens even had a small fan website I had.

Anyhow, Mark J Cairns did a re-release of Sylvester Levay's soundtrack for the show and there were replica helmets being made etc. Well one day it was announced that one particular guy was trying to find all the original tv series helicopter mods to rebuild the helicopter. I guess after ten or so years he succeeded.

IIRC it's a non-flyable replica.  There was a post-up about it in the last Airwolf thread back around Christmas.

Still looking good though. If I recall, back in the 80s, the actual pilot for the helicopter for the TV show said the mods actually improved the maneuverability of the helicopter.

I watched that show when I was a kid in New Zealand. Perfect show for an eight year old

I saw it on rotation on a local rerun channel and I was surprised how little I remembered of it. What really freaked me out though is that I have memories of a two part episode of airwolf where String goes up against his usual nemesis. (The number one choice of drug runners, mercenaries, town bosses and crooked sheriffs, the Huges 500). But gets defeated handily because it has some kind of magic box on it which allows any aircraft it is installed in to have performance well above its normal flight envelope.

I have found no evidence anywhere I have looked of such an episode existing. I can remember all kinds of little details of that episode though!

what was the tv show in early 80's late 70's....  female pilot who would always do a crazy combat landing.... I don't even remember the type of helo...  "short final into yank and bank to landing?"  Could have been right around the time of Emergency! and Hogans Heroes?

That would be one awesome remake/movie if done correctly with the 80s tech looking helicopter and modern special effects.

It could be very interesting. But it would probably wind up being totally botched. The world is a different place now. It's against the law nowadays for people to have their own attack helicopters.

Probably couldn't get away with using the attack helicopter to blow up a police headquarters filled with the Sheriff and his cronies nowadays either.
