Tony, very nice collection.  That's a pretty piece of change you got there.

At one time I had seven Valmets, all but one in .223 calibre, but in an effort to rid myself of the need to have so many different mags, I sold them all (the .223s, that is)! Rats!! Then I even sold the M-62! Rats!!

BTW, do you pronounce that 'Val-May' or 'Val-Met'???

I have been told that the Finish pronounciation is actually something like "Vul-mut" but that doesn't sound very cool to me, so I just call 'em Val-mets myself.

You are correct, Sir.  It always pi55ed me off that everyone at the gun shows insisted on calling them 'Val-mays' like they were a product of France, or something.

C'mon, we know what kind of rifles that France insists on producing. (Although I have heard some good stuff on the FAMAS, so who knows...)
Nothing like the Valmet.

I finally e-mailed Tuuka (of Finland) on this Board concerning the correct pronunciation and he gave me the 'Val-met', hard final 't', answer.  On the Valmet-Weapons Board, I put the same question and got a few responses. One from a guy whose wife was Finnish, and he said the
correct pronunciation was 'Vul-Met.'

Of all the Valmets, I like the M-62 best. I bet you do too![:D]

If I'm not mistaken, Valmet never made a 7.62 cal. with a folding stock - they were all made in .223 cal.

Course, I could be wrong.[:\]
