It turns out that Leonard Nimoy has an uncredited role as a Army Staff Sergeant in "Them!".  Now, I'm going to have to look for him the next time I watch it.

No idea, it's bugged me for years.  If you hear her voice  it's obvious she's  done more movies than this.

A little digging shows it's Janet Stewart. She was on the Andy Griffith Show and did some other stuff.

"The Day the Earth Stood Still" was mentioned up thread

A superb movie, with perhaps the best script of any of the horror movies of the era. Also, it stars Patricia Neal, and I've always had a thing for Patricia Neal.

Another favorite is "This Island Earth"

Also quite well done for the genre, and this one stars Faith Domergue. I've always had a thing  for Faith Domergue.

A surprising number of what became big stars started in either The Outer Limits or The Twilight Zone.

Steve McQueen, Robert Redford, William Shatner, Robert Culp, Martin Landau, Charles Bronson.

This scene REALLY creeped me out as a kid.  It's probably why I can't stand spiders.

The Incredible Shrinking Man was a very philosophical film, which appeals to me even now.

Plan 9 from outer space 1959   See Vampira for the first time

Plan 9 from Outer Space (originally titled Grave Robbers from Outer Space, or simply known as Plan 9) is a 1959 American black-and-white science fiction thriller film released by Distributors Corporation of America (as Valiant Pictures). The film was written, produced, directed, and edited by Edward D. Wood, Jr. and stars Gregory Walcott, Mona McKinnon, Tor Johnson, Vampira, and posthumously bills Bela Lugosi as a star (silent footage of the actor had actually been shot by Wood for another, unfinished film just prior to Lugosi's death in 1956).

Full movie available on Youtube.

ETA: Reminds me of this critter:
http://www.70slivekidvid.com/sigmund/sigmund1.jpg

As a kid, I was amazed by the animation and appearance of the monster from "20 Million Miles To Earth".
After that, I wanted to watch anything Ray Harryhausen created just to see his miniature monsters move.

...until I saw "The Creature From The Black Lagoon". It blew my mind that the guy wearing the suit could actually swim with it.

I find the "a role he'd rather forget" an interesting tagline for that article.  I remember seeing an interview where the reporter brought up the movie under the guise of "I bet this was a role you'd rather forget" etc.  Nimoy was *not* amused and chastised the reporter for it, pointing out that he had supported his family from that movie.
