I was fortunate to have access to one for about 4 months a year ago. Amazing car. I'm not a car guy or generally an EV car guy but this got me all excited about them.
A couple cool things about the Model S...
1. They use regenerative braking, which means that lifting your foot off the power causes the car to slow down dramatically. It's like putting on the brakes. This action temporarily recharges the battery as you decelerate. In fact, except for a couple occasions, I could drive the car in the city without having to use brakes except for the final 7mph or so at a complete stop. Takes some getting used to but you quickly learn to prefer it. Be careful getting back into your dinosaur-burner though.
2. The car is FAST and acceleration is linear. The push-in-your-seat acceleration is exactly the same from 70-90mph as it is from 0-20mph. Amazing and way more fun than any other cars (and because of my work I've gotten to drive some nice exotics).
3. Even aside from the obvious, it's one of the most technically advanced cars out there. The interior has a massive 15" (at least) touchscreen in the dash. There is a Tesla app that allows you to see everything about the car. I know there are others that do that but Tesla made it more cool.
4. Got to drive it from Las Vegas to SoCal and it did bring home the fact that this is not a car for everywhere. Unless you live near a Supercharger you'll be limited.
5. I want one!!!
