For a brief period I will be serious. The pronoun 'He' is used merely for our convenience. G*d is not human, nor male or female. G*d is. And that is generally beyond our comprehension. Their are traits of G*d that may seem male or female, but that is a momentary period. HurricaineAllie wanted to talk about G*d the other day. She told me that G*d is an energy that is intelligent and holds us all together, she is 13.

In the bible it shows God in masculine terms, but there is feminine imagery as well. The number 1 reason God is a male in my opinion is Christ's own words of "Father". Father Son and Holy Spirit...
Now you could look at the classic boyz in the hood when Doughboy is talking to his female acquaintance and they discuss it. One of them says God can't be a she because there wouldn't be any wars .

The question itself is a perfect example of the small mindedness that created God;
We crave a Patriarchal figure of an all powerful being that will take care of us. We want Mommy, or Daddy. We created God in our own image. If there is a superbeing, a creator, I'm sure it's form is something far beyond our ability to comprehend, or imagine. My simple little brain imagines a multi-dimensional intelligent energy field unbounded by time or space. YMMV.

It is not a property of the First Cause except to the extent God wants to reveal himself in that way. |

Why assume sex? Why assume form? can't know, can you? Hell, if "god" was ever seen on earth, would that entity not appear in a form palatable to humans, rather than true form (if god wasn't of human form)? there's no way to know. |

God is clearly a man. Only a man could go 2,000+ years without communicating and believe that the relationship was just fine. If God was a woman we'd be getting a new prophet each week to remind us of all the stuff we promised to do last week but never did and God doesn't really understand why we didn't listen to her like we promised.

Both, one of Gods names is El-Shaddai which means God Almighty. El points to the
power of God Himself. Shaddai seems to be derived from another word meaning breast, which implies that Shaddai signifies one who nourishes, supplies, and satisfies. It is God as El who helps, but it is God as Shaddai who abundantly blesses with all manner of blessings. God took what woman is from man, and that is why when a man and a woman are together they complement each other. All that man and woman are, is a copy of God. Made in his image and likeness. |
