What? No chitlins?
Sounds like a stupid restaurant manager may be looking for a new job... http://www.myfoxny.com/story/27893679/mlk-day-menu-offends-some |

Anyone who doesn't like fried chicken, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese isn't American and should be deported.

I am offended by their offense. Fuck them. In protest I'll enjoy some fried chicken, watermelon, Kool-Aid and BBQ potato chips this weekend. |

Quoted: I think he would have been fine if he left the collards off View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Joe Lupo, senior vice president of the Borgata in Atlantic City, says The Metropolitan restaurant chose menu items that were among King's favorite foods, as documented in numerous historical sources. He says the restaurant's manager is an African-American woman and that she chose the menu intending to honor King. She's just a racist Aunt Jemima |

In college we had a day at the dining hall for multicultural dining. All the foreign kids were there dishing out favorites from their countries, it was pretty cool.
I got to the end of the line and there was two black kids with a sign that said "African American" and they were handing out fried chicken and watermelon. Nobody could figure out if it was legit or a huge joke, and no one dared to ask. |

Protip: Black folks know how white people are uncomfortable about laughing at "black things" in the presence of black people in a PC setting. This is secretly hillarious to black people. I'm glad they could be good natured about it. Black folk can fry a mean chicken. |

90% of restaurants in America serve some kind of chicken daily

All those things done properly are delicious.
Food isn't racist. Especially not staples of southern cooking that everybody fucking eats all the time. Including Dr. King, who loved all that stuff. Serve MLK's favorite foods, get labeled a racist. This is not the dream the man had, people. |

Commenters made some good points.
Who are these "some tweets" anyways ? Why are they getting press etc. Because it's the narrative the media wants to push. End of story. |

I'm guessing the offended people were white, liberal "intelligensia" who have never tasted fried chicken and collards. If they had, they'd be there eating instead of harumphing. |

Whoever doesn't like fried chicken needs a swift kick in the yams.

I ate greens last night. This AM I celebrated by taking a green shit.

I do not ever recall meeting a black person born and raised in the NE that ate collard greens.
|
|
so, Well done Roast Beef, over cooked green beans, mashed potatoes with brown gravy and cobbler
that's racist too? or just how people of color prefer their food prepared in general? |
|
|
So now soul food is racist too? It's one of the great contributions of black culture to our Great Nation. Right up there with the Blues and peanut butter.

Mac and Cheese is now a black thing and therefore racist?
The fuck is going on in this world?! |

I had fried chicken for breakfast this morning. Just because I like fried chiken.

I don't see who is calling that offensive or racist. No cites in the article. I order chicken and collard greens at least twice a week at my regular bbq place, and this doesn't offend me.

I just bought two boxes (15 boxes per box) of Annie's Mac 'n Cheese last week.
That said, they should have just had the regular menu along with fried chicken and collard greens. Just call it a MLK Day Special. |

I always found it weird that one of the racial stereotypes about black people is that they like tasty food.
