Just wait until obama gets his own holiday and 30 years of media reflection on his transformational presidency.

Good to see that the Cedar Key Fish and Crab place is getting closed down. My wife got the runs there last time we visited their tiki club.

That whole area is kinda aged.  It's cute but boring.  Spent a few hours there last year with an ex girlfriend.  For some reason my 60 something year old parents stayed two nights there a few years back, and even they said it was boring.

We went to a restaurant that looked like its glory days had passed 20 years previous.

Well I don't know about you, but I'm absorbed by the conflict between Mrs Phelps and the Cedar Key Fish & Crab bar. I mean, adding a tiki hut is just going to far.

Sir, this country as you grew up in it is over. The sooner you accept that, the sooner your angst will pass.

Nothing will save it (as we have all known it), it has been corrupted from the inside out. All that is left is for the corps to decay and return to dust.

He ditched his white girlfriend because of how it looked to other blacks to be dating out of his race. He plagiarized his college paper. And he was a socailist preparing to march on Washington to demand redistribution of income when he was killed.

1. Another shining example of the excellence of American public schools.

2. What sort of newspaper staff & editor would see those responses and not, out of the goodness of their hearts, simply not print those retarded kids' comments so as to not embarrass them or their families?

3. Oh yeah... the same type of editors that see the statement "Where he grew up and what his life was about" and end that sentence with a question mark.

4. What sorry-assed newspaper printed that?

When my youngest son was a senior in high school (2002-2003) he took a class in history.  It was from WWI to the present day period.

He spent one class discussing the Cold War including Korea and Vietnam and he spent three weeks discussing the Civil Rights movement.

There were no quizzes, paper or assignments on the Cold War but the Civil Rights era had a test, paper and a project.

No wonder we are a nation of idiots,

There's no excuse for 12 year olds to have such misinformation. Five or six years, it maybe is forgivable.
NOT at 12

Thats fucking horseshit.

I have 5 kids. They all say some wacky shit about history or politics or whatever.

I listen, i correct them. If they see or read something they dont understand, i help them.

I firmly believe that parents in addition to the educational system are responsible for informing our kids.

A 20 year old here at work didn't know which side won the US Civil War...so we made it easier: we asked him who the vice president was....he didn't know.

Yes the Liberals are definitely making a new saint, Saint King.
I have a friend that has a couple of boys in grammar school 1-8. His one boy was in 4th grade.
He knew ALL ABOUT M.L.K., but didn't know anything about Washington, Franklin, Or the other founders of our nation.
Hell even Lincoln. Who all liberals love.

He went down to the school to complain to the teachers about the lack of knowledge.
On who founded the country.
He was told this is what the curriculum requires.

So they knew all about a Communist inspired Womanizing,Trouble maker. That got shot during the Civil rights movement.
Now we have a holiday for him
There were a lot more people involved in the civil rights movement besides King..
But Hey he did give a GOOD SPEECH........... He had a Dream. BFD.
Medium to larger sized city. White teachers.

His kids now go to a private school

Now tell me that teachers aren't Dumbing Down the American kids.
Now try and tell me that this isn't intentional!
It Is
Public Education is where the Liberal battle will be won,or lost.
They are winning.

I am a student of history in my spare time. One consistent theme is that history fades with time and people remember only what they want to believe and/or what others have told them. Even with the access to information that we now have which one might think would moderate this affect, this theme remains.
