Yesterday at church, I saw a friend of mine and noticed one eye was pretty bruised and he had a few small cuts on his forehead. I asked him what happened.
I'll preface his experience that he works as a store manager for a smaller retail store. He is 63 years old, and carries concealed all the time. A few days ago, it was getting close to closing time, and an individual came into his store. He said the person was about 5 inches taller then him, had a hoodie on, long dreadlocks, and pants hanging low. The person had an open backpack over their shoulder and started walking around the store. He says he has people like this in the store all the time, trying to shoplift items, and has to routinely escort people out of the store. In this instance, he thought the person was a 20+- year old male. He said the store has a "security guard", but they are essentially nothing more then a warm body with little training. The "guard" followed the individual around the store, asking if he could help him. The person ignored him and kept walking, but after a few more attempts to engage him, the person began cussing at the guard and telling him to back off. The guard got my friend (store manager) who went out and told the individual it was time to leave. The person turned and spit directly in his face, and followed it with a punch. The person then knocked him to the ground and began punching him repeatedly, while straddling his chest. The "guard" stood there and watched this happen. The store cashier came running over and pulled the person off, and held them down. My friend while bleeding from several cuts due to a ring the person had on, then called the police. The police showed up in a few minutes, and handcuffed the individual. The person was spitting on about every cop there. The cops came back in a few minutes later.and informed my friend the individual was a 19 y.o. female. My friend was shocked. He said it happened so fast, he didn't even really have time to process what was happening. In all, he said it took about 10 seconds. The thing that scares him the most though, is the thought that started going through his mind as he was being punched. He said it was about the time the cashier pulled the person off of him, that he was thinking about drawing his gun. He was in fear for his life during the attack. Looking back, he can imagine the media circus that would have happened if a white guy had shot an unarmed teenage female. He said he now carries pepper spray as well. He also fired the "security guard". |
|
Video footage evidence from the attack would have exonerated him.

It doesn't have to be a middle class home (and the middle class has been shrinking since 2008), but there should be two loving parents who share in the child rearing responsibility. |

In both the cases you listed, both those individuals lives would have been much easier with video footage... I think most on here probably would shoot. But even though you saved your life, in cases like this, your life as you know it would still be over. I could tell my friend was relieved his cashier got there when he did. It prevented him from having to go down that possible road. If he had shot, His retirement savings would have been gone to fund his legal defense. He would have had to look over his shoulder the rest of his life.He probably would have needed to move and find a new job. The part that makes him the maddest though is he told the cops he wanted to press charges, and was told they would contact him in a day or two. So far he has heard nothing. He has called trying to get ahold of someone to find out what is going on. He has left messages and has heard nothing back. He wonders if they even charged her with anything. She is probably right back on the street looking to do it again. |
