Outstanding! My grandfather spent a lot of time in LeHavre, and too a number of photos there that he developed into slides after he got back from the war.

Knowing how to drive the Epson scanner that guy is using can pull a surprising amount of detail out of some of the most fogged negatives. Couple that with some software skills and you can salvage some pretty poor images.

On the "rescued" site, if you look through the rescued archive of photos of people, notice how there are essentially no overweight or even plump people in any of the old photos?

True but there's a lot more going for you in pulling a useable scan from a negative than there is trying to print it in the darkroom, so the chance of success is more than a little better than it used to be. Most of those negatives would have been useless 25 years ago unless you found a master printer and could justify the expense.

Most of those negatives would have been useless 25 years ago unless you found a master printer and could justify the expense.

True. No way was I going to make that many contrast masks for what is essentially a hobby. Now I can scan, use curve adjustments and layers and for screen viewing I'm not limited by the slope of my photo paper.

The 4th or 5th picture is of the BOSTON Light ship.
It was decommissioned in the 70's while I was stationed at base boston.
What an amazing find and recovery!

I just have this feeling that someday I'm going to find something like that in a house I buy or something.

Rush excitedly to get it developed, and it will just like 58 vintage dick pics.
