I thought for sure we'd have some Florida teammates with go fast boats. Damn....

No pics but my Stratos will get up in the mid 70s and a friend of mine has a Allison that will break 100. Not too bad for a bass boat.

Define fast, please?
80+ mph on the water is a pretty damn good pace. A little 8 foot PWC going 65 mph is fine on smooth water hit a wake or two, then it becomes much more interesting. |
|
I do. She tops out at 53 mph. Sadly, shes got a busted motor.

you need to define some more things... lake boat? offshore boat? etc any idiot can buy an overpowered bass boat and get 65kts on a flat lake. doing that offshore on bluewater requires about 10 times the money. my brother has a zillion HP Donzi and it is hella fast, but at speed it also makes you realize that you are 0.25 seconds away from blunt force trauma death. ar-jedi http://img.nauticexpo.com/images_ne/photo-g/offshore-offshore-speed-boat-20154-6257531.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

No doubt, offshore is the big league. And that's what I'm hoping some fellow boat owners share here. But I still have massive respect for the hot rodded bass guys that can hit 60-80 on lakes in some bad ass sleek bass hunters, too. |

Somebody please post the gif of the dork that decides to go full throttle across a wake and ends up looking like a crash test mannequin. Not to mention wiping out all of his cohorts.

My first boat was a 16' super lite jet boat with a 455 Olds bored .120 and used chevy 454 rods making it 483 CID. Lots of Modello Olds parts , Jacuzzie jet drive , 0 to 73 mph within 100 yards . Then bought a 18' Crownline that would hit 53 with a speed prop. Sold both and got a 24'8" Crownline (248) and it hits 61 mph with the tight chop on the water. Fixing to drop the hammer on a new 21' Tri toon pontoon with a big Merc on the back. I'm getting old and don't like working on them like I used too. I'm a mechanic and did all mantainace and engine and drive work on my boats . Everyone bitches about how a boat is a money pit, but all mine never left me stranded . Take care of your shit and keep it in good working order and you won't have problems , at least in my experiences.

It was a blast, and the fish cops hated it. Sold it a while back, and now, I get to stand on the fucking shore. Yay me. View Quote |

Not fast by any means but I do have a bass boat that will run in the upper 70's.
|
|
Center consoles now reach 70 mph... I got ejected at 55. Month in bed, year plus to recover. Have run a couple go fast types like Magnum, Scarrab in the 75-80 range. Hell... The 70' Sportfish I ran last summer tops out at 40 mph.

Buddy of mine has one of those drag race boats.
It runs 220-250 mph on the water. Stupid fast. I've been near it with it out of the water.. Never ridden in it, one seater, but I've watched it race. Crazy fast. |

|
I had a 38 foot Larry Smith Scarab flat-deck with twin staggered 540's pushing 17.25 x 29 cleavers. Hull was Kevlar/carbon fiber with D-ring bulkheads up front, no cabin.
