Just bought my SO a Cooper Coupe, two seat.
Roof line is funny but it's a great little car.  Her two seat Mercedes was totaled when she hit a deer.
Cooper is fun to drive, 32.1 MPG and right now costs about 25 bucks to fill up
It is two tone black over grey as well with the black wheels.
Taken at the dealership with  iPotato and in the rain

My dad has the same car as the OP, except the rally stripes.  It was one of the couple of retirement car gifts to himself.  I drove it a few times, I like the nimble aspect of it.  I wrench for a living, I would hate having to wrench on this thing.

Nice we have an early one.

Nearly 200k miles :) they last well. You would hardly know to drive it,

My daughters car.

I like them.

Although, they were not very reliable back in the 70's.

It's surprising how much room there is inside. A friend has one and it's very nice.

My sister in Orlando has a 4 door Cooper.  She really likes it.  Sucks she has to run Premium gas in it though.

One of the members here walked away from a nasty ass accident when he was driving one - the mini was really smashed up, and he was apparently just fine.  Maybe he'll see this thread and post the famous pic.

I have been looking at them but have heard horror storys about the cost of parts and maintenance.

I don't mind wrenching on my own cars but I don't want to be raped on parts

We went ahead and bought the extended warranty like a sucker...however, the female unit can just drop it at the dealer if it needs windshield wipers.  It is worth my peace of mind not  to have to find some dude to work on it.  However, every one I know and have talked to doesn't back up the horror  stories.

We have warranty and the prior owner had bought a transferable maint program. We

should be good for years. It does look like a nightmare to do maint on.

I think the first step in every maintenance task is to remove the entire front end.

Should ask the mechanics and see what they think about them, I know I was advised to not get one.

We got rid of my wife's Countryman at a little over 100k.  Little, but expensive things were starting to go wrong. We heard that a replacement tranny runs around 6k, and the only dealer in the state, is in Edmond.
