I was waiting for a light to turn green to make a left turn onto a two lane road. I was the third car in line. light turns green and the first car sit there for what must have been 10 seconds. So i bump my horn a couple of times. The guy in the second car gives me the single finger salute and I salute back. the first car decide its time to move. car 2 turns into the left lane while i turn into the right and we are both stopped by traffic. he ends up a couple of cars behind and then i see him turn into my lane and box me in.. Then the notice him putting his hands up in the WTF mode. Then i see him start opening his car door. By instinct i start reaching for my Glock on my hip in a IWB while looking in the mirror for a weapon in his hand. my car is one of those that you can see the driver movement and i think he saw me reaching for my hip and as as soon as he saw that he jumped back into his car.

I had nowhere to go as my car was blocked in by traffic or i would have fled to deescalate the situation. I would have and did stay in my car. If he came up unarmed, i would have tried to desaulate the situation by either ignoring him or speaking through the window. No way would i go outside or open the door. If he tried to break my glass or get into my car, I would have used deadly force if needed. Cars then started moving and we went our own ways.

this all happened in less than a couple of minutes. what could i have done better in this situation?

I have had similar situations happen (honk horn a moron not moving and some dill hole who is not the problem gets upset) they start ranting I ask "were you the one holding up traffic?" when they answer "no" I state "well then I wasn't honking at you"..takes a second to register on some mental midgets but they usually figure it out and move on mumbling something

Gunfights erupt down here from flipping people off, especially from a static situation. I've been down here for 13 years and in that time I've seen some very squirrely shit....situations that could have gone lethal quickly, over very small shit.

If I get filliped off or incur any of the other multitude of daily driving personal insults that flow here I simply keep a straight face and ramp from yellow to orange. From there it's just a matter of tactical OODA. And don't forget, while it doesn't have a holster, your auto is a fine, fine weapon and can have great effect if used correctly. Sort of like the opening ceremonies of a well executed ambush.

I agree with PDM. You screwed up by flipping the guy off. You should have just ignored him. I took a trip to Dayton Ohio once. Apparently up there the large corn fed white boys like to get drunk and then start fighting around bar closing time. Not saying fights don't happen here but you are much more likely to get shot here IMO than anywhere else and so to me a fight here is more a matter of life and death. Remember the Zimmerman trial? I guess most people know this so our crime rate has plummeted to levels not seen since the early 1960's. An armed society is a polite society.
