Just saw that this was a new product from Sierra.

They have added ballistic-type tips to their MatchKing line. For the 308 bullet it increases the BC all the way up to .545 (G1) which is absolutely amazing, over a 10% increase in bullet coefficency.

Anyone tried them to see if they work well or not?

There is a huge thread on them if you search. Try "TMK."

35c per bullet for 175gr smkTK

The price isn't bad for the immense performance gain.

For 77gr in 223 @ 3000fps it stays supersonic BEYOND 1,000 yards.

appears to be a secant ogive versus the tangent ogive of the original smk's.  Seating depth will become more critical and may be more intolerant to jump whereas tangent ogives tend to be more forgiving to jump.

You'll never get it going that fast from an autoloader, and if you've got the boiler room just buy some 80s.

Yes, it's secant.

Tipped Match Kings

Some are secant, but the .224 pills look hybrid at best.  There is a drastic angle change from the shank to the ogive on the .224 pills.

On the .30 cals, not so much.

77gr TMK

175gr TMK

The 224 bullets are really only special because they fit on a magazine.

The 308 bullets are pretty damn awesome.

if they price these at regular smk price, I will try some.  $0.50 per berger or scenar is too much for me especially when 175 smks shoot so damn well

That 77gr TMK has a claimed G1 BC of .420, which is biting at the heels of the 75gr A-MAX.  It will be interesting to see how it does in service rifle comps, and if it is going to end up in one of the Mk.262 Mod line-ups.

I've never had that problem with the Amax or the Vmax, and I've fired tons of both through ARs. Please explain this issue you had...

It was an early run of them, and the tips were loose and would fall out. That's all.

I'll give you that.  Later runs were flawless.  And way cheaper than SMK's. Hornady >Sierra.

I do still have the box of Accubonds that the tips are "molding" in.

I just don't have good luck with tipped bullets.

I always liked the original 55 grain .223 BlitzKings.  They were very accurate out of one of my 16" 1-9"AR's. I still have a few boxes of them left.
