I have a 2 car garage and 1/2 of it is for storage. I can only fit 1 car (the wifes minivan) in it.
I have neighbors who use the entire garage for storage. another who build a mancave out of it. how do you use your garage? |
its holding my broken project car, and I have a workbench and tools out there.
Get both.
Two cars. Kids bikes, ladder, wheelbarrow, mower, edger, sport equipment, lawn tools etc. Nice and neat. |
Car/cars.
I use the attic for storage. Having a 2nd car and a garage for your nice car is the only way to keep one car nice. As soon as you start leaving it outside and/or driving it in bad weather it's impossible to keep that vehicle nice. |
3 car garage ...2 cars will fit (right now because its winter) the rest is motorcycle, riding mower, bicycles, pool supplies, generators, tools blah blah blah
My neighbor across the way keeps his corvette and mustang (neither get driven more than a few times a year) in the garage while his truck and his wifes car stay outside |
Both cars in garage. 80% of the people in my neighborhood use it storage.
3 car here, fit my truck, her car and the Willies project, fortunately the Jeep is short enough so I can still have a workbench and beer fridge in the garage behind it.
I insisted $100,000 worth of cars deserved it over junk that would likely never be a part of your life again.
My garage is a barn, so both.
eta: Garages are primarily for cars. If you have room for other items after the cars are in, go for it. |
car and bike in garage, plus i have way, way, way too many tools
it's tight |
I guess mine is a mancave, altho I don't like that term.
It was an agreement with wife when we bought the house. |
I have a one car garage for storage and a two car garage for my DD and pickup.
I use my garage for toys.
Cars were built to sit outside, no reason they need to be indoors. |
My 2-car garage holds my Tundra, a dirtbike, my son's Quarter Midget, workbench, and the tools.
Next place I live will have at least a 3-car garage. |
Wife's car in one half, my motorcycle and tools in the other. The truck has to live outside.
one car garage with a sunroom off the back. Car is parked in it and junk goes in sunroom or my shed.
Late spring, summer and early fall the vehicle stay outside. The garage is used for projects/work shop....
But when it cold, I HATE having to clean of vehicles or letting them defrost so I move stuff around to put my truck and the wifes car inside whenever we are home. Given that we live in different parts of the country, you don't have to worry about the winter months like I do.... |
Two car garage that holds two vehicles and room for storage.
I can fit two two cords of split wood in it along with enough other stuff to fill a small moving van and still park both vehicles in it. Nice workbench about 8" long at the front. My son in Texas parks two vehicles outside because his garage is the storage room. |

Workshop and way too many motorcycles.
Not enough room left over for cars. |
3 car garage. Both cars, workbench & cabinets for storage. I have enough room for an add't vehicle which I may set up a bench strictly for weapon work. I believe a garage is to park the cars, not place all kinds of "stuff" that you can't get your vehicles in.......
Both, pretty much the only space I have for my stuff so I have a heavy bag, inversion table, safe, workbench, etc. around the perimeter, wife's car sits in the middle. My car lives in the driveway.

This is why I bought the house I did. It holds my car and bike, and the rest of the room is projects The far left bay is a sidedraft paint booth, and there is an office and bathroom in the corner. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff206/devtucker/New%20House/0629001942a.jpg View Quote So jealous. |

in south FLA rain comes in anytime. it could be sunny no wind and in 5 minutes its a hurricane.
with 3 young kids, the wife has to have the van inside. |
My garage is claimed as a 2car, but that is only if you park them 3 inches apart. Instead, it holds some snowmobiles, one car, and a mountain of stuff awaiting sale and disposal in the spring.
Next house is going to have as much garage and barn space as I can possibly conjure up. It will also have a basement and/or attic. Without a basement, attic, or crawlspace this house SUCKS to live in with young kids. |

Ignore the trees growing in the gutter, this was when I bought it |

Both - 6 car garage, 1 bay is used for the mower, workbenches, and various and sundry shit...
I plan on building a 4 car garage this summer. That way we can use our current 2 car garage for cars.
Get Both.
3 Car garage that has 2 cars and storage for tools and equip. |

Mine's full of motorcycles packed around a Handylift and work benches.

Both SUV's are parked inside. Years ago at a previous house when I didn't care as much both of our cars got bad hail damage from a surprise overnight storm. Ever since then I have made it a point to be able to park both vehicles in the garage. Plus it's nice to be able to get in/out of them during inclement weather as well as them being more secure during the night. Over the years I have grown to hate clutter too so I don't like having my garage filled with crap anyway. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h117/CDBNTX/Misc/garage_zps69ec8bda.jpg View Quote How often do you use your bikes? I have thought about hanging my children's bikes but then I would be lifting them up / taking them down once a day |

No longer a garage. Now holds a Bridgeport Mill, Morey Lathe, CNC Router, saws, tools, materials, a fridge for the beer, television and a couple of chairs.
