If anybody thinks we don't already have the most deniable and blackest of black ops folks over there already as consultants and observers with certain groups, they're nuts.
This is probably more support for THOSE folks than any serious instruction for the Syrians. |

Americans have been training the FSA in Jordan and KSA for a while. There aren't going to be Americans in Syria,the risk is simply too great.
My take on this fiasco is that when the US and GCC decided it was time for Assad to go,they shouldn't have just sat on the loo farting. It's all far too gone for the originally desired outcome. The VERY best that can be hoped for is all sides getting burned out and agreeing to a Lebanon in the 90s uneasy peace. Sorry for the pessimism but I don't see a military solution to IS any time soon,not from capability but rather will. The longer and longer this goes on,the higher the chance of things going to shit in the Gulf itself via Shia in Bahrain and the Saudi's home grown problems raring up and everything those encompass. |

And the notion that there is no moderate opposition in Syria is a big part of the reason we have IS to deal with today. The revolution in Syria began as an almost entirely secular event. If we hadn't been so goddamned ignorant and short sighted about supportin' the Mooslims and them animals over thar we be quite as badly fucked as we are at the moment. |
