Seeing these freaks protesting for criminals reminds me a little of Tyler Durden's speech in the basement of Lou's bar.
We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off View Quote These people have no purpose in life. They don't know what accomplishment feels like. They want to be a part of something big, but they fail to understand (or were never taught) their own power as individuals. So they cling to someone else's cause. It's like they're all trapped in their own little self imposed Sundance movie. |

I really feel like these people are trying to "out-progressive" each other.
"I'm so progressive, I want to chain myself to a barrel in the middle of a freeway to protest the police shootings of violent black criminals!" "Oh yea? Well I'm so progressive I want to play the Islamic call to prayer from the cathedral at Duke University! Just look at how I embrace diversity!" |

I want to get paid by Bloomberg too. Only thing, I'll get a "Pants Up! Don't Loot" t-shirt first.

Its a decent statement. Those middle children will latch on to any cause that makes them feel part of something bigger. They are incapable of making something significant out of themselves so they feel that "helping" someone they view as worse off than them makes them significant. Its the same logic that breeds suicide bombers and gang members. Lost morons searching for identify.

And the root of that big war was going on when both the book and movie came out... plus a dozen other conflicts that no one bothered to care about, with origins that span back much, much further. One could write a book about the failures of that single line and how the only "no purpose or place" is determined by the people who choose to let themselves have no purpose or place. |

I have a friend (kind of an ex-friend as I avoid her) who used to be somewhat normal, more or less. But she is totally consumed with causes. Every thought, word, and act is about her opinion of a cause. She doesn't really have any skills and lost the job she managed somehow to keep (until Obama but that fact escapes her) The funny part is how little she knows about the causes she purports to support. Like nature for instance. She often spouts absurdities about nature, because she lives in the city and is so rarely in it, except for a few organized trips. She camped - once, and hated it. She only "hikes" on manicured nature paths. Once when she visited here we went to the savannah wildlife management area and she wouldn't even get out of the car. She was consumed by the few people we saw, their thoughts, and if they were "allowed" to do whatever it was they were doing. She was as interested in nature as the man in the moon. She jumps from cause to cause and can't form an original thought of her own. One time she had to check into al gores website to decide how to feel about something. |

"Hipsters" is an idiotic term. It doesn't mean "hippies", but someone who just goes with whatever is trending at the moment. It's just a bunch of morons that find a cause that they'll participate in that makes them feel like they'll be remembered. The Brown protests went from people pretending to be involved to people using a situation that has nothing to do with them to further a personal agenda. I don't care about "hipsters/trenders" or what their agenda is let alone the similar hippies of the past.
BTW, I was born way past the 60's when "hippie" was popular, yet every time I read "hipsters" it's like someone is trying to re-define the word. |

My reply to all - is non-tax payer's lives don't matter. I don't care about what you think rights your rights are - I just care about my tax dollars going to those non-deserving a**holes. The community you live in represents you - if you live in a shit hole - what does that say about you and your community? I pay out the ass and will do anything to live in a up standing community - I mock hipsters that never really serve their communities nor have real jobs that pay taxes. I don't need diversity or promises - I need those willing to work and make community that people are proud to live in.
