Some rat-bastard stole my kevlar  and sleeping bags out of my wall locker. The SOB did it in the time it took me to go take a piss.

I have seen this gear on EBay for $70 (Kevlar) and $200 for the sleeping bag system (But I dont need the gore-tex liner).

Is there a better place to get this gear? Because I DONT plan on stealing it from my fellow Marines.

Thanks for the help!

Death,

If you are currently serving in the military like you say... you need to report that through your chain of command.  I'm sure they would like to know that they have a theif in their midst!

If it was stolen like you said... a "health and welfare" should be conducted in order to catch the theif.

If it is not found then a report of survey should be initiated with an investigating officer in order to find liability...and to correct your CIF hand receipt.

If it was truly stolen like you said..and you were not neglegent...you have nothing to worry about.

This just sounds a little fishy to me.

Your best bet is to go down to the local pawn shop and see if you can buy your gear back.  It's probably down there, or somewhere close to it.  If it isn't, your next best bet is to go to the surplus store and get it.  If you can't find the right stuff there, or stuff you can RX at CIF, then get a report of survey done.  You'll get stuck for the bill, unless you had locked that wall locker.  Then you have a chance of beating it.  If you didn't lock it, then you bought it.  The fact it's stolen doesn't releive you of responsibility.  It's your gear, you signed for it, and you have to secure it.  Sucks, but that's the bottom line.  The good thing is when you get the Statement of Charges, they'll knock 10% off the replacement price because it was used.  The replacement price is far less than what you'll be able to find on the open market, so it's really the cheapest way to go.
