Yeah, but then nobody'd fly 'em...and the tires would need changing out far more frequently than they are now...

a system is only obsolete when it is outclassed in every way by a newer version of the platform or warfare/defense systems are able to defeat it on such a scale that it makes fielding the system useless. there is no new CAS only platform and it seems the plane is still immensely useful in a reliable way.

Know if they could only find targets for them...
No FSO's or JTACs. Remember, 'No boots on the ground'. Followed closely by 'No combat forces'. That's the problem right now. Many of the sorties are coming back armed since there are no ground parties to spot targets and the ISR birds can only see so much. Kurds are willing to learn but it's not something that can be done overnight. The Iraqi's went through training but have no desire to actually use it. |

Like you don't think the various advisers aka spec ops can't call in tac air..
