Anyone here have these? If so what do you think of them? I have 4 1911's but none with a rail, and I really can't afford to by another 1911 with a rail without selling a gun or two, and I want what I have. Anyway I saw these on Sportsman's guide yesterday and thought it was sorta cool, but without being able to see them or handle them in person I won't drop $40 to $50 on them.

Just looks too cheap to me. I think the idea is great but I cant do that to my 1911.

Eta. I'd add a SF non railed kit before I used those.

Or a TR Gear EZ rail or even add a novak rail. Shit, I'd try the NC star trigger clamp rail before I would try that.

So Drilling and tapping the frame is better than a thin cover than can be removed if dissatisfied with the product?

I know it's not everyone's idea of sexy, but I don't believe it looks like crap either.

Cripes, I just looked the rail is $10 more than the regrip.

I put a set on my nightstand M9. Honestly, they aren't bad. It's not permanent, which I like. It also covers the trigger arm and some of the slide lock lever so dirt won't interfere with the former and my thumbs with the latter.

I've got a ria tactical I was never gonna do shit with but my dad gave it to me for Christmas so I didn't want to drill it. I slapped on one of those grips so I could add a light and use it as a bedroom gun. I liked it at first but hate the aesthetics more and more. But whatever, it works. And, no, it doesn't increase the thickness of the grip. But it is very solid. Grips all the way around trigger guard so it doesn't stress the grip screws.

For me it is, obviously YMV.

ETA: and IMHO, the plastic cover, grip, rail contraption looks like a bag of smashed assholes. Agian, YMV.

Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While I don't think the coverup grips are super cool looking, I don't think they are ugly either. Although I will admit I have only seen then a few time for a few minutes. Maybe with time I could learn to loath them.
