I recently bought an Epson WF 2540, ( about 3 months ago) printing it works fine, I don't use it for wireless printing but it is an option. I have not used it to scan since I have a dedicated scanner as well.
I used to use a laser printer but I just don't print enough stuff to justify a new laser printer. I also think the Epson is about $10-$15 cheaper now than when I bought mine. |

Whatever you look at, consider the cartridge replacement cost. Some cheaper printers have cartridges that cost nearly as much as the printer did new. People get a real shock when they buy a $100.00 printer and replacement cartridges cost $97.00.  |

I don't print much. So on the last 4 ink jets I had every time I went to do the 2nd print job my cartridges would be all dried up. I got a Konica Minolta "magicolor 1600 W" laser printer for around $120 IIRC. I'm still running off the starter toner carts. A new cart will cost $75 (x4, it's a color printer) to replace. The can be replaced singly. If I'd had the extra cash the WiFi version of the printer is $200. Seriously, it's worth ever penny to go laser instead of ink jet. ETA the model number. Model in quotes because it's all lower case. |

If you're OK with refurb, check out the Dell Outlet website.
Warranty same as new and better prices. My Dell laser printer has been bullet proof. Had it for 7 years now. I don't run it real hard, but it has paid for itself a few times. |

My advice buy the CHEAPEST one you can buy, throw it away whe the ink runs out , ( a new cartridge will be within $15.00 , or more, of what you paid for the COMPLETE printer) start over.

Brother.
I run an entire law office around an MFC-8910DW with the extra paper feed tray underneath. Duplex scanning, etc., etc. They make a color version if that's your thing. Great performance and just reliable as can be. |

I just bought an HP 8610 from Best Buy for $129. So far a nice printer and it qualifies for their Instant Ink program....I think that will save money but we will see over time.

If you're ok with refurb and big, get an old HP. I've got a Laserjet 4 plugged into my wireless router. My toner carts last 10k pages and the last one was under $30 for an OEM cartridge through one or another amazon seller. The print quality is impeccable, I did my wedding invites on it six years ago.
The old HPs are made to be rebuilt and have service manuals available that assume only moderate intelligence and skill. |

They all screw everyone on toner/ ink. with some of the brothers(you can search the interwebs),with a series of ctl panel entries,- you may get up to 40% extra toner use after the replacement light comes on

I hate HP's inkjet printers. They are cheap crap with huge software installs. We like our canon all in one.
It works every time, wireless even. Never an issue with it in 2 years. Brother is good too.

After our last HP went belly up in less than 2 years, I will never buy another HP. Went back to brother. Also have a canon inkjet that was cheap but works well. Ink is about 18/cartridge for the brother.

I beat the shit out of all my stuff, including electronics.
I've been through multiple printers. My wireless epson has survived 3 moves and my general abuse. Before this printer, I assumed that all printer, no mater the price, were garbage. This printer proved me wrong. Epson makes good shit. |
