I guess GD doesn't read... The article clearly explains how US Marines have been the bulk of the force in that area for a few years now, their arrival turned the tide (at least temporarily) and they aren't leaving yet.

Geography much?

Yeah, it will be interesting to see Sunni Isis March through Shia Iran to pick up their slightly used military equipment.

When this country was founded, the Founding Fathers placed the future of their country in the hands of what they believed had to be a moral and educated people. And what's why we are where we are today.

Really though, I suppose it's par-for-the-course,  we gave Cam Ranh Bay to Russia.  Ahh, the games we play

And that is why the Political Left is working tirelessly to degrade morality and education.

Humanists hate humanity as much as they hate themselves, they work to destroy both.

Vietnam wanted the US to return but obviously that didn't happen for political rather than pragmatic reasons. Funny enough,in Pew research finding which countries have the most favorable view of the US,Vietnam is near 80% and in the top tier. Some US allies are in the single or low double digits, like Egypt and Turkey. Germany was about 50% by comparison.

I flew into Bastion many times last year, and it was the first place I landed in Afganistan. The girls in the tower would come down and steal our fresh milk for their tea. It was pretty quiet when I was there and the Brits said they were gearing down and pulling out, and I guess they did!
