I went through it dropping out for a year until they finally changed the complete drop from the pole, the underground portion, and every one of their connectors. Got reliable service now after what seemed like a hundred calls and four or five days off waiting for them. Every time they claimed their signal was fine and could not find a problem.
Edited to add I recabled my house also just so they would stop blaming my end. Even still one guy blamed my new connectors even though the problem existed before they were installed and he changed all of them for nothing. Of course years ago I had problems and they blamed my wired router and it was my router

Hardwire a device and if stops dropping obviously your router is shit.
Buy a Linksys. |

I have that problem, and I have bright-house, I will have to go manually reset the router, sometimes more frequently than others.

Are you dropping wifi or are you losing network connectivity? There is a difference.
My parents had a way-too-old router that would dump wifi connections every 10-20 minutes for 1-2 minutes, it was super annoying whenever we were visiting. Kharn |

so your devices lose connection from the router, or the modem loses connection to the internet and makes the router drop?
if you keep internet on the router, but wireless keeps disconnecting/reconnecting, I'd suggest turn off auto channel hop in your router settings. mine did that every time something would make it change channels. selected one and haven't had a problem since. |

Well if it's ancient anything will probably be an improvement  I'm not very savvy on surveillance systems, so I don't know if this would help you more then another model. It does have the ability to plug in a external harddrive and your are able to view the contents of it from anywhere. It can be viewed from a URL on a computer or apps if you are using android or IOS.

How does wireless AC compare with N or g?
Linksys has some "smart wifi" apps and stuff, I'm kind of looking at them. The asus model that someone linked seems to have some quality issues. Its really hard to garner info from reviews because you have to separate user error from hardware problems. Right now I'm trying to learn about different features to see what ones I would want. I don't have an endless stream of money. On the other hand, I want to be able to use technology that I don't have now but might want in the future. Gaming and movies isn't of interest to me, nor will it ever be. Controlling devices around my home is though. |
