Yet another ebola thread. Wonderful.
Finally story to accompany headline: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/10/04/sick-passenger-removed-from-united-flight-by-medical-personnel-in-hazmat-suits/ |
Watch this happen every time somebody's flu goes symptomatic on an airplane.
But Ebola only gets transmitted by contact with bodily fluids.
Don't need the hazmat suit.
What about everyone else on the plane?
Note: the LOL is in relation to the government being all "HOLY SHIT! SICK GUY WITH POSSIBLE CONTAGIOUS DISEASE! ON A PLANE FULL OF PEOPLE! GET THE HAZMAT SUITS AND TAKE HIM OFF THE PLANE! THEN SEND THE REST OF THE PASSENGERS ON THEIR WAY!" |
So many fuckups handling this and it's entrance into the US that it almost seems deliberate....
BTW, when do we reach critical mass and petition the site admins for an Ebola subforum?
1) No flights from the infected countries.
2) No entrance to the US by people from those countries. How hard is that? |
When the real shit hits, we wont have enough supplies around due to all false alarms. We are screwed.

Wish me luck. Oh, going to Tangier, too. |

Then why has the CDC rushed over there every time there was an outbreak ? Why wear the hazmat gear. Why quarantine people ? Unlike AIDS which generally requires a TRANSFER of bodily fluids (and almost exclusively blood), Ebola requires only CONTACT with bodily fluids (and virtually all bodily fluids). Also, Unlike AIDS, Ebola tends to survive fairly well in fluids once they are outside the body, like bodily fluids on bedding, clothes etc. AIDS patient spits on you, pisses on you, whatever you are not getting AIDS. You pretty much need an exchange of blood, i.e. intercourse or needle sharing. Ebola transfers with simple contact of many bodily fluids, like puke, piss, mucus, etc. You could make out all day with an AIDS patient and as long as both of you don't have open sores in your mouth you ain't getting HIV. Not so much with Ebola. |

The FOX article posted is now saying the passenger was cleared, and does not have Ebola.

US citizens returning from the three/four African countries who do not have symptoms get to spend a month in isolation before returning to normal life.
