I am very happy with my 3 current Jeep vehicles: 2000 TJ with 182k, 1993 XJ with 212k, and 1994 ZJ with 165k. All still run strong. They have had minor issues like a water pump, cat convertor, front wheel bearings on the ZJ and belts replaced but overall great, reliable vehicles. Ive had Toyotas and Nissans with more problems.
The Jeep parts are cheap, everywhere and vehicles easy to work on. That sounds like a winner. Also have a 96 Ford Ranger with 140k that is a great little truck. So, I don't get the hate. |

I have a 2007 4.7l Jeep Commander limited. My wife and I both love it. Drives like a dream and gets us into and out of any place we need to be.
In before the "commander isn't a real Jeep" crowd. |

Because new Wranglers are getting Lemon lawed and spending weeks at dealers getting transmissions and differentials swapped out on warranty because chrysler's quality control sucks.
My 2011 Tacoma was more capable stock than the comparable jeep models, had 0 issues other than a heater fan, and I'd kill for a 2011-2013 4 Runner as my preferred vehicle. I've owned Jeeps in the past and they were constantly plagued with issues. |
|
The question is, how will the quality of new Chinese made ones compare?
|
|
|
Because I own one? Granted I know Grand Cherokees aren't considered real Jeeps but as a manufacture they suck.
|
|
After spending years as a tow truck driver, you tend to learn which vehicles are reliable and which ones are always getting towed.
Jeep is near the top of my 'do not want' list (ETA: to clarify, the Cherokee and Comanche-type Jeeps). |

You live in AZ.... so your jeeps dont melt
Just an example. one friend has a 2008 TJ and another has a 2010 JK both have rust and rot on them. |

Two words OP: Electrical problems ok, I replaced a burned out license plate light last sunday. what other electrical problems? How 'bout going through two AC blower meters due to a short. Or another short in the main wiring bus, yeah that was fun..... |

I loved my first one so much that after it was totaled, I bought another one.
Both of mine have been very reliable. |

I get the Wrangler appeal and why people like them but let's be honest, they don't have great realibility rating. |

I really like my 2005 Rubicon, but the crappy gas mileage is getting to me. Never had a vehicle that was so easy to work on.

I love my tj, it's cost me thousands of dollars in maintenance and upgrades and engines. I view it like a woman, they cost a lot but are a lot of fun
|

on my second one...01 TJ with 175K miles... tires, brakes and oil changes pretty much all I've done. Love it

|
The best I can tell you can find people in GD that hate everything, they even hate the people on their on side or people that love the constitution. I shake my head here all the time..
On topic I have two Jeep Wranglers (01 & 12) and love both of them. No major problems out of either of them. |
|
Arfcom loves to hate auto manufacturers.
Oh, and that reminds me... fuck Ford with a rusty exhaust manifold. |
|
I miss my 2010 JK....
Only got rid of it for lack of power, and the tiny gas tank. |

I don't drive it much but drive it hard, as it is only used for fishing (beach driving), winter weather commuting & towing my atv's; 160k miles & it does not burn a drop of oil, great engine. Synthetic oil from the 1st oil change. If you keep the cooling system working properly & don't overheat a 4.0 it will last forever, I drain/refill coolant ever 2 years & replace the thermostat & hoses every 4 years. |

Every time I see a Jeep thread in GD, I never click on it because I assume that everyone is posting stuff like "Jeeps r teh awesum" and "My Jeep has been through hell and won't stop running". I already know Jeeps are great so I save my click for stuff I don't know about....like Ebola and how Ron Paul secretly hates freedom and wants you all to hook up to Matrix.
Seems I was wrong. |

It's not so much the product as the faggotty ass, pajama wearing, fan boi mentality. The idea that somehow a jeep is equal or better than just about any 4wd pickup is pathetic. You don't even have real fucking door hinges!!!

I have owned plenty of Jeeps and still have one left.
Last year we had five of them in the driveway. My hatred for Jeep product was learned from experience with Jeep product. Will CHRYSLER ever learn how to do wiring that holds up over time??? WTF ?????? They use inferior switching in high current circuits. Their choice in connector materials leave a lot to be desired as well. I loved the older ones and went to look at newer models and the sales guy at the Jeep dealer told me ...... " I know you, I have known you for many years from coming in here to buy parts and stuff for the Jeeps you have at home. You will hate me if I sold you a newer model. " Then he went on to explain about the electrical problems in newer units. |

Love my 2005 TJ Sport, bought it new and only have 31k on it. Thank god it’s not my daily driver due to gas mileage.

It's usually not the Jeep that is the asshole.
Just like it's not generally the Harley Davidson that's the douchebag. |

They got rid of the 4.0 Straight Six. There again the RUST issues ....... for as long as I can remember Chrysler product loves to rust out. |

If you do find one make sure you have $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ On the other hand if you want a really good DIESEL JEEP ....... Build it yourself !!!!!!! Put a Mercedes Benz diesel in there !!!!!! You absolutely cannot *buy* a good Jeep .... you have to build it yourself.
|

Just Empty Every Pocket Between my son and I; we have 7 1990-1995 YJ Wranglers. No inherent problems with those but I would be inclined to buy a Toyota or Nissan instead of a newer Jeep just because of perceived better quality.

Never owned one. My uncle has that "jeep thing" dating back to the 70's. The amount of money he's spent keeping the damn things running is horrifying. He spends less money on the RV he tows the jeep with and it has a hell of a lot more miles. Since the 70's he's gone thru about 14 jeeps and none of them leave the pavement.

Reman Turbo with actuator = $650 Reman Injectors = $150 x 6 The used WK with the Diesel do hold their value and used will run you $15,000 + depending on miles. |
