I'm about to drop a radiator (and maybe--though probably not, a thermostat) into my mother's 01 Impala with a 3.4 this weekend.  The rad has been leaking for a while.  In the event that I need to add a water pump to the mix, would a hitachi be g2g?  I'll admit that I'm biased towards Japanese parts for this kind of thing--especially since it's my mom's car--and that's why I'm looking at the Hitachi.  If NGK or Denso made a part for this application, I'd jump on it.  Normally, I'd try to go for the GM replacement, but since my hand is forced in this situation with the rad replacement (and especially since the water pump is so easy on this car) I'd appreciate being able to drop a cheaper part in there if it will last a while. I only hesitate because it appears as though Hitachi has only been making water pumps for non-Japanese makes for a 3 or 4 years, and there aren't any reviews of this particular part floating around. Thanks.

It might work better than the dexcool the car was originally equipped with.

Additionally:

Chinese
Japanese
Dirty knees
Look at these
