My Mom has two cats(they are indoor cats that never get out) and about two months ago the older cat caught a baby gopher in the garage(they used to get to go in the garage)and brought it in the house. It must have had fleas because the cats both had them afterwards. We had the house and yard sprayed and bathed the cats with flea shampoo and gave them frontline and even put the stuff on their faces that kills the fleas on contact because I couldn't shampoo their faces without getting stuff n their eyes. It was a battle for a long time and I thought it was over. Now yesterday I found big, brown fleas on the little cat again and I figure the guy that sprayed the house and yard should have come back to do it again but he didn't. He is coming in a little while and I shampooed the cats again and will remove them for the spray. Is there anything I can do to make sure all the little bastards are killed?, everything I went through didn't seem to do it. Also the cats still had scabs from scratching before and now they are scratching again. Is there a good medicatied shampoo that works to give them some relief? I'm afraid that soon the poor cats will be over-chemicaled.

If you have carpets or rugs, salt them.

The babies hatch and cannot resist the salt.  They get too much and die.

Diatomasous earth in rhe yard.

A chance like this doesn't come along every day.  Plus, chicks seem to dig it.

I get stuff from the vet called Revolution. It's just a tiny vial of liquid you squeeze onto the back of the cat's neck where they can't lick it. Apply once a month. It works great--I haven't seen a flea in years.

Add a flea comb to whatever else you do. Not so much because it gets fleas off. The cat will just enjoy it.

Once you get rid of the infestation in the house, bathe cats in a solution of 1 teaspoon Pine Sol to 1 gallon of water. Do it once a week for 4 weeks. Pine oil melts the fleas and makes the cats smell good.

I've had very good sucess with this Advantage brand - it's the same thing where you put the drops on the neck once a month.  Frontline didn't work very well at all - they must be resistant to it.

Prevention is key to keep them away. Even for indoor cats. Fleas get in any number of ways, then all they need is a host.

Thanks guys. I've put Front Line on them twice now and it seems to suck, especially for $50.

Looks like someone's faking out one of those hairless cats to sell.

another vote for Revolution.  that shit works and is a lot easier on the cats than Advantage, Frontline, etc.  my cat was really sick at the time (blood pouring out of his mouth) and the vet said to not even think about putting one of the other treatments on him unless i wanted him dead

Wait, big brown fleas? All the fleas I have ever seen are tiny black creatures.
Fleas can be a bitch, read about their life cycle. Have the pro come back, ask what he is using.'
Figure out where the fleas are coming from. They hatch every two weeks, AFAIK.
The Frontline works well, I don't know why you are getting poor results. From what you are saying, there is a source of active flea infestation.

We had a cat that was allergic to the flea shampoo. You wouldn't think it but original dawn dish soap works crazy good on fleas!
Not ticks tho.. Mix up a bit in a carpet cleaner and you won't have anymore problems
