its not just women. many peoples entire lives revolve around the tv, the mall, video games, and sports. they have no clue whats going on in the world, or that the shit going on in the world could come right to their doorstep. hell, 1/2 the people i know have never turned on the news for anything other than a weather report for their trip to the water park.

my daughter and i talk about situational awareness quite a bit. One time early on she asked me why do i need to know all this stuff, i said because you carry your vagina with you 24/7..I promised myself that i would not let embarrassment or feelings get in the way of teaching her about safety. She has been a good student, i am proud of her..

Yes. On another thread here someone recommended the Hardcore History podcast by Dan Carlin. I have become addicted. The point is that as bad as it seems now, with Zippy collapsing our country and the world teetering on the precipice of oblivion, it's still a much better time than throughout almost all of history. The past either 1) sucked, or 2) really sucked. People today have no concept of what it was like. It's been a rather recent development that women had a say in who fathered their children. Just eight hundred years ago, nomadic armies would routinely sweep across the steppes of Asia and take over cities. The women were raped, and the men were slaughtered. It was just that simple.

In my early 20s, I had an opportunity to live and work in South Asia (Nepal and India). I lived very much as a local and what I witnessed in that 2+ years opened my eyes to the fact that America is an anomaly in how the World and the Humans who inhabit it actually work.
#1 - The 2A isn't just a relic from the Revolution that has become nothing more than an academic and legal curiosity. In practice, it is the only Goddamn thing that separates fearful subjects from independent Citizens! Yep, we had a GREAT country...once. The bigger issue is that humans are inherently violent, and it is Western culture's rule of law that makes countries like the US safe, at least in places where the citizens are part of the root culture.
Many who grow up in good neighborhoods and then go to good universities have little direct experience with harsh reality. And females tend to dislike violence and hence run with the idea that it doesn't really happen. So we end up with a myth that university is a hotbed of rape, while ignoring the real hotbeds of such activities. |

It's rape enabled by these nitwits attempting to shout down even the suggestion that there are some practical things a woman can do to lessen her odds of being a victim. i saw this crap go on at a university. a girl wrote an editorial advising women to be aware of their surrounding and to take responsibility for themselves. she was decried as blaming the victims and was nearly hounded off campus. There is a hardcore group of morons in our country who have no sense of right and wrong and don't want their fairy tale punctured by reality.. |

There is a profound belief among coeds and administrators that college campuses should be some sort of "I'll take the pancakes in the Age of Enlightenment" school of Athens. That the solution to sexual assault on campus is mere "education" of a bunch of 18-22 year old kids who, by their nature especially when mixed with drugs and alcohol, make bad decisions. The negation of the primary duty of the individual to exercise caution and personal safety measures as "victim blaming" necessitates intellectual contortions and hopelessly naive non-solutions from these people. The New York Magazine article on campus rapes, a significant problem at the bastions of the Ivy League, was depressing mostly because it highlighted how marginalized the girls had become. They were reduced to wishing the administration had protected them or into some sort of performance art meets activism, which tended to underscore how helpless they were in the first place.
