How hot can you get the barrel,safely H bar colt or m14 or fn before you would do unnecesary damage?  Any input appreciated.Thanks members!

Anytime the barrel gets hot the more susceptable it is to wear and erosion especially in the throat from hot gas and pressure.  Does this hurt anything?  Not really it's normal for military weapons, the only danger is from a round "cooking off" in the chamber, but your going to need an NFA weapon to get her that hot.
