OK one of my co-workers and I have a disagreement about the .50 caliber.

I say the Barret and other wepons like it fire the Military .50 caliber BMG round, he says no way, the recoil would kill you, I say no, I have seen vidoe clips of people fireing from the shoulder.

So who is right, does it fire the Military .50 BMG round or is the round a shorter version with.

Also who has one and whats it like to shoot one?

Yes, the Barrett, the ArmaLite AR50, and quite a few others do fire the .50 BMG round.

As for the recoil, I have fired the ArmaLite and the muzzle brake on it reduces the recoil tremendously.

The tank brake on the Armalite reduces the recoil so much that the sights stay on the target throughout the followup - I would say the felt recoil is less than say, .223 Rem in an AR-15!

The fishgill brake on the State Arms rifle reduces recoil to about my light weight .22-250 Reminton 700.

Amazing, but true.

If my AR-50 kicks, I haven't noticed it.  It does fire the .50 BMG round. It does however do a fine job of cleaning the bench every time I fire it.

Yeah, you don't want to be standing to the side of that thing within about 10 feet or so.

I don't know about shoulder firing, but I shot one a few months back off the bench and I was suprised at how little recoil there was.

My Grizzly .50 has extremely minimal felt recoil.  Quite heavy with a good muzzle break oughta do it.

Yeah your co worker suffers from K-SAN disease.

(Knows Shit About Nothing)

Funny how many people suffer from that, I bumped into a guy with the SAME EXACT argument your co worker had.

If you dont know 100% about a topic. Keep asking questions until you do.

Yep shoots the exact same .50 BMG M33 round, or tracer or incendiary or AP or what ever flavor you like. All have muzzle brakes that make them less brutal than a 12 ga. My wife shoots my State Arms, I've shot Barrets, Serbu's, Ferrets, some custom guns, all are gentle as a baby. Concussion is pretty cool, usually clears the rafters at covered ranges. They ghave a funny sound unlike some other guns, they go bang2bucks, bang2bucks, unless you're shooting 750gr Amax loads then it's bang5bucks, bang5bucks.

That wasn't scope creep - I know what that is.  Besides I had a pre-existing injury from the rear site on my match rifle (AR-15!), and your rifle was sliding around from all the sweat on it.

Actually I had forgotten about getting kissed by the scope.  If you would put some decent optics on there that had more than a millimeter of eye relief it would be no problem.

I have never fired a .50 BMG, but my .300 Wthby Mag. makes a sound very similar to that.[:)]
