It's you and others like you. As far as the treaties are concerned they don't mean anything. The U.S has broken just about every treaty made with the Native Americans. So big deal or no big deal if that happened long ago. However, most recently the U.S. decided to break the SALT II agreement with the Soviet Union under some lame excuse that the U.S.S.R. doesn't exist anymore and that we live in a different world now. Whatever the reasons, why should anyone else honor any treaties with the U.S. when they don't seem to mean anything unless it benefits or serves as an advantage for the U.S. Hypocracy has very little tolerance in any part of the world.
The North Korean's nuclear weapons program goes back to the 80's. I suspect they already have nuclear weapons, but the powers don't want the American public to know. It is not PC to get them into a panic with all the Joe's in South Korea that stand the potential of getting wiped out. We do after all always have some elections coming up. The powers want to come across as always trying to save the world regardless of their true sinister intentions.
The Korean missle weapons test firing over Japan was just a teaser to let us know they have the capablity of delivering the payload as well. Otherwise, what would that test serve to prove to anyone. I don't feel they would show their hand so quickly to let everyone know they have the capability to deliver just chemical or biological weapons. If North Korea hasn't built their own nuclear warheads, then they got them from the Chinese or the Soviets or at least the main ingredient needed for the North Koreans to build them without the need for a power plant. They do after all have SCUDS(from Russia), evident by the cargo ship that was intercepted recently. They wouldn't sell the SCUDS unless they have something better making the SCUDS obsolete. There is no question they have stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons already which pose just as much if not more of a danger than nuclear weapons, but that hardly ever makes the headlines.
The lack of oil reserves in North Korea adds to why I feel a different approach is being taken to try to negotiate a resolution. There is no money to be made on this one even if force is used.
There will always be some who feel some sense of security because the Korean missles lack the range capability to reach the continental U.S. and ignore the fact that they don't need that range to be effective. If it comes down to a war, it is not going to take place here. In other words, know what we are getting into before being so quick to try to get into it with Korea. Rest assured, the powers know this.
The situation with North Korea seemed to have been stable or as stable as one could expect from that whole situation. The current tensions with North Korea seem to have started up again with the missle test incident. No one was hurt, physically speaking, and no one was killed. Why should missle testing technology be limited to the exclusive domain of the U.S. and its cronies. It didn't help that Bush opens up his pie hole and labels them as an axis of evil. Maybe this is all just part of the master plan all along. The U.S. needs to set up the next victim after the Iraq issue is settled.
Going back from WWII to the present,(I'm being conservative here) I can't think of a single year that we didn't have at least one person, leader, dictator, country that we haven't labeled as the enemy in one way or another and needed to go after. Add to this fact, many of them were put into power by the U.S. only to go after them later to get them removed. This does serve to keep the military industrial complex going along with a possible reason why many outside the U.S. just hate America.
It is important to keep alive the perception of a constant ever present danger from an enemy that seems to pop up very strategically one right after another and sell it to the public in order to keep the military industrial complex going and making obscene amounts of money for a selected few while at the same time sending its youngblood to do their dirty work for them, getting killed in the process and call it macaroni (patriotism). It's a hell of a racket.
