I was having a discussion on Facebook with a social liberal/I guess financially conservative. He says he would vote for Rand Paul, but not Cruz, as he is part of the establishment. He thinks Cruz's grandstanding is him putting us on. Through his wife's undisclosed pay from Goldman-Sachs, he could be getting completely paid off by them. It's a very fishy deal connecting him to one of the organizations that was responsible for a great deal of what caused the recent economic collapse. Edited to add the link (in case people don't know) of Goldman-Sachs and the economic crisis. And the ringleaders of the economic crisis didn't receive any punishments. But what do you expect when Ted Cruz's wife is a VP of Goldman Sachs? He's not going to lead the charge. Can I ask you what you like about Ted Cruz? What positions does he have that are appealing? He quoted Nader saying this :"Nader writes that by marrying the Left with the libertarian Right, we can cut off government support for corporations and have "honest government," "fair taxation," and "more opportunity." Nader sees relatively low-hanging fruit in opposing "sovereignty-shredding global trade agreements, Wall Street bailouts, the overweening expansion of Federal Reserve power, and the serious intrusions of the USA PATRIOT Act against freedom and privacy." He also articulates loftier, if not fully fleshed out, aspirations to "push for environmentalism," "reform health care," and "control more of the commons that we already own."" To me that looks like a good list depending on what "push for environmentalism" and "reform healthcare" entail. We can assume not the ACA since it was written post passage. Let's try to keep the conversation centered on Cruz since I think that is the more important topic. Thanks. |

Thats rich saying Cruzs wifes connection to Goldman Sachs proves anything. The CEO of Goldman is the most frequent visitor to the White House.

Nader is a socialist. Not a communist, but a European style socialist.

Cruz said he wants to repeal every last word of the "Affordable Care" Act.
That makes him Obama's enemy. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. |

Government caused the housing crash. Banks were the tools government used to accomplish it.

I have read a number of these "Ted Cruz is too smart to really be conservative" types of articles.

EVERY politician has ties to big money corporations in one way or another, that is how they get the campaign money. No way around it.

Obamacare is going to cause my early demise, the guy who gets rid of it will get my vote. That is my one issue most important at this time.

Yeah, I want to take advice from Ralph Nader about getting to "fair taxation."
There was a subset of Libertarians who argued for Obama on a "Liberaltarian" basis in 2008. The idea was that they'd combine progressive ideas on social issues with Libertarian ideas on free markets. Needless to say, the progressives utterly ignored the Libertarians after pocketing their vote. |
|
I'm not saying he is (yet), but any politician that spends enough time above a certain level will get corrupted.
This is why I want Rand in for President NOW and Cruz as VP or something that holds power. Let them get what they want/need done now and get out, to inspire and make way for other like-minded individuals to run. |

Cruz's record in front of the SCOUS speaks for its self. Progressives and RINOs fear him
|

The way he scares the GOP establishment is all I need to know. He has my vote.

View Quote The econ collapse was roted in the federal government messing with klending, basically telling banks lend or else. and the the sweetheart "don't worry when its all screwed up, you'lll be nmade whole. The banks screwed up by taking the deal and not standing up and exposing the rotten crap. I've no idea about Cruz at this point who to say anything is what it seems to be, I guess I am down to he pisses off liberals so that all I have, it good enough |

None of them are on anyone's side but their own. View Quote Bingo. This Tom Sowell quote comes to mind: "No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They are trying to solve their own problems -- of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and number two. Whatever is number three is far behind." |

View Quote This....unless you are funding your own campaign, there is pretty no way to raise enough money to win a Senate race without being in the pocket of a handful of powerful people. Why do you think companies and businessmen spend so much money and time funding political causes (and most fund both sides to hedge their bet, but will favor their side a little more than the other)? They are just stashing away votes for a rainy day when their interests are at jeopardy....."hey Ted, do you remember that one time we got you elected as a Senator? Well, I got a favor to ask you....." That's just the way politics is at the big boys table these days....you don't stand a chance if you play the high and almighty card and don't accept donations bribes from special interest groups. |

View Quote yeah, not just campaign funding but more generally, you don't get to that stature without having prominent friends with various entanglements. regardless cruz is too rational, intelligent, and principled to get the nomination. apparently the party prefers cheerleaders and shifty shitbags. |

Government caused the housing crash. Banks were the tools government used to accomplish it. Stupid people were the tool. no, Frank, Dodd, Carter and Clinton are culpable for the banking/housing crash. they forced banks to give loans to a percentage of the population they knew were never going to be able to pay it back all due to government interference in the free market. |

IF we look at Cruz' personal history and his political history, Ted Cruz is being Ted Cruz.
want to know how much he hates Commies..look to his father. |

WE the People begin to finance campaigns, Say 100 million for senator, 50 million per congresscritter, 500 million for POTUS and break it down from there, we own the airwaves so mandate XXX Hours per politico for TV and Radio and That's it.. we'd see 2 weeks of campaigns per primary and a month for the general elections and far less bullshite once seated..but I'm just a lowly ignorant cook. |

Well, let me see here.
Man is senator from Illinois. Senator's wife works at hospital holding a "very important position" and "earns" $250.000 per year. Hospital gets $2,500,000 per year in Federal grants. Senator gets elected president. Senators wife no longer works at hospital. Her former position remains unfilled. I see no conflict in interest in either case. |
