I filled a RX yesterday at W. Greens in phoenix. It was for a painkiller cause i got a tooth going into meltdown. I get it home and I am missing 2 pills. This is Hydrocodone/acetaminophen combo. I was worried that if i called them on it they would think I was an addict trying to get more pills. So I called them, stated the facts, the lady put me on hold, then she said to come down and get them. I'm just worried she was trying to palm them, I'm sure my tooth will be gone long before I need those last two, its just that I paid for them you know.
This ever happen to you? Should I be an asshole and count them in front of the pharmacist next time?

Hey, I had the same prescription last month.  I didn't get shorted at my pharmacist, and pain stopped well before I ran out of pills.  I had an implant put in, an impacted wisdom tooth removed, and a bone graft(and was asleep during the procedure) if that give you any idea compared to what you had done.

Hopefully the Mexicans will sell you your "Viagra" in blisterpacks so you dont have to insult their honesty by counting the pills out on your "Viagra" run.

Good memory RAVEN! Yes it wasn't Viagra. Now that my face is swelling I am just gonna get the SOB removed. Pain can do wonders for FEAR of EXTRACTION. The thing is, I can't get a damn appt for a week! I need this thing out now!

Hah!  I KNEW you couldn't be going over the border for Viagra when you could get it in the US real easily.  I mean, would you announce to a whole board saying "Hey everyone!  I'm so impotent I need pills to get a stiffy!  Any pointers on gettin' them in Mexico?"  I figured you must be going for painkillers, but you didn't want to make it look like you were a druggie.

Yeah, I also have Migraines so I thought I could self treat with antibiotics and pain meds. I never got the chance to try. It is sooooooooo  bad right now. My face is swelled up to my cheack bone. Its been hurting for 5 days, normal pain releivers are not working anymore. I was able to convince my dentist that I needed a few more till i got it pulled. She refered me to a surgeon. He is on vacation for 2 weeks. She refered me to another surgeon and they can see me on the 14th. I hope i don't die before then. My dentists just ordered me some more antibiotics as i was writing this. I was on the phone with her.

I was thinking Ice Skate and a rock myself.

I doubt they were shorted due to a druggie need. That med is not high on any craving list

Most likley just to save a dime or two it adds up in the long run.

Seriously, I hope your dentist can see you ASAP.  I had an abcessed tooth several years ago, so I "feel your pain". [;)]

Hmmmmmm...  Walgreens shorted my wife 10 pills just last week.  Antibiotics.  WTF?

Like I would not notice. Its the last RX of that my dentist said she will EVER give me. 20 pills to last me till my apt with the surgeon. They short me 2. This shit is like gold to me right now. It is the only thing keeping me from going insane with the pain. It feels like a LIVE 10000 volt line has been stuck in the hole in my tooth. I am taking half pills only at this time to make them last. I usually take them at night to sleep, I can suffer during the day, but I need sleep. Did i mention I cant eat, cause I have a cavatie on the oppisite side that hurts too, but only when I eat? Did i mention that the tooth that is hurting me now, they wanted 750 to root canal and crown? well its getting pulled. I aint paying that much for a POST BAN tooth anyway.

Umm... Take off your tinfoil hats, guys, it was probably just an honest mistake. Those still happen, you know.

My mom is a pharmacist. Most of them count pills all day, often as fast as they can. It doesn't seem too unbelievable to be up or down a few pills on occasion.

Many pharmacies have automatic pill counting machines.  Some machines are not very accurate so most pharmacies resort to recounting just to be sure.

Maybe your pharmacist didn't doublecount, got several complaints that day and figured the machine was screwing up.

I used to work at an RX and dealt with this a lot over the years.  ALWAYS check the count of your medications BEFORE leaving the store.
