Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Mauser Question

I'm curently working on a project to ebarrel a large ring mauser I have. Well to get the barral off I had to heat it with a propane torch until gunck came bubbling up through the threads. My question is did I screw up the heat treatment of it? If so what effect will that have when I fire it. I dont really want a receiver wrapped around my face.
