Silverado. Yes, yes it predates your arbitrary 1990 deadline, but only by a few years and it's still a great movie.
Also, a second vote for Hatfields & McCoys. There was also another miniseries a few years back called Into the West. It wasn't bad, but got a little long in the tooth and preachy about 2/3 of the way through. If you can stand a TV show, AMC's Hell on Wheels is great. |

The Good, The Bad, The Weird.
Granted it is set in Manchuria in the 1930s, and is in Korean with subtitles, but it is definitely a spaghetti kimchi western. The only non-porno movie with subtitles in the world that will hold the attention of 11 to 13 year old boys. The movie starts with a boring scene in a Korean businessman's office, but the second scene in the movie is a kick ass train robbery that will hook you. And I challenge you to identify all the guns in the movie without recourse to IMDB. |

Most have already been mentioned, two I would add are:
Dead Man (not for everyone, but I like it) Django Unchained (same as above) Of course neither of these, and only a few of the movies already mentioned can hold up to the classics of the 30s-70s |

Open range ....great movie
3:10 to Yuma .......one of my favorites Hildalgo..........not too bad. True grit......still like the original better, but still a good movie. Django unchained........not bad. Typical Quentin Tarantino film. The quick and the dead......I little older movie, but good. Sharon Stone was hot in that movie. 
Maverick....... A little older, still a decent movie. |

Every time I cruise a Redbox , there seems to be another Western with no recognizable actors in it
 I stopped trying to find a decent one last year .....I figure someone will mention it n a thread like this if they are anything worth renting. |
