So, what are we going to do with this? They have something like 1,000,000 soldiers. Our troops currently in place would be little more than a speed bump.

What is the smart thing to do?

Smart thing to do is nothing.

Korea may have millions of troops, but come on!  Their supporting economy is a basket case. Any conventional offense they make could quickly be countered.

Nuclear is another matter.  NK's all paranoid that we want to invade them.  Since we DONT, there's no real contention here, other than the possibility they sell nukes to other countries/terror organizations.

The crisis with NK is being overhyped and exploited by the president's political enemies.  The president's enemies dont really care about Iraq, they just want an issue to flout in his face and assume some sort of moral high ground (defending a brutal dictator.  How moral).

Read this (excerpt) today on Time Mag website. Notice the excellent use of "Objectivity" in reporting news.

"The Bush Administration has done its best to counsel the world not to panic, making daily appeals to give diplomacy a chance. Secretary of State Colin Powell refused even to call the situation a "crisis." But with each new North Korean gambit, that official insouciance sounds more off-key. Seemingly overnight, the U.S. begins the New Year eyeball to eyeball with a paranoid, ruthless regime hell-bent on obtaining nuclear weapons to complement an army the Pentagon rates among the most formidable in the world. And so, despite their stoic miens, White House officials are grasping for some way to yank North Korea back from the precipice and return everyone's focus to that other spoke in the axis of evil, Iraq. "Is it a distraction?" says a White House official. "Yes. It's a serious issue. Does it change what we're doing on Iraq? No." "

What is the purpose of this "opinion prompting"?

Use Neutron Warheads then repopulate the country.

Oh..publically everyone will scream bloody murder if only to maintain their "peace loving" image..but they will be secretly pleased..that this turd of a country gets waxed.

China and Russia will be happy, as will Japan.

One less loose cannon to worry about.

Radiation from Neutron Warheads disperses rather quickly leaving very little fallout. It is Ideal for creating dirt cheap real estate.
