There's an adversitement for it in the Feb issue of Guns & Ammo magazine, but it's not on the Kel-tec web site yet.

It's a .223 caliber design with a hinged lower receiver that folds similar to the SUB-2000 carbine, but has a slightly more conventional plastic stock — it's not pistol-gripped or of the tube-style design used on the SUB carbine, and it has a slot in the bottom to store a spare magazine. The trigger guard actually fits inside the empty magazine well when the rifle is folded. Other cool features:

1. Has an integrated Picatinny rail for mounting optics. (Front sight looks identical to the SUB carbine)
2. The plastic forend folds down to form a bipod.
3. Uses "the proven M-16 breech locking and feeding system".
4. Weighs just 5 lbs. unloaded.
5. Is just 26" long when folded, 37" when open.

The advertisement doesn't mention what the suggested price is, or what kind of magazines (AR-15?) it uses.

Hmm.

Must go check this out tomorrow, obviously.

I give up trying to link the picture --- Skibane
did it.

It looks cool, does it take AR mags?

I'm guessing that this carbine uses a unique single-stack magazine, like the SLR8-1 does. Maybe Speshul Weppins will make a mag well conversion.

If indeed it does use AR magazines, and retails for less than $500, I'd buy one just for fun.

Looks like it would be super-easy for an aftermarket manufacturer to offer a pistol grip replacement for the stock/trigger assembly. Just remove one screw and you're ready to swap it out!

Also, the stock looks like it's secured with a push-out pin. Replace that with a small cotterless hitch pin, and you could go from folded to ready-to-shoot in a couple of seconds —

Awwww, why not?

I want a folding gun so I can hide it in a large gatemouth bag or toolbox and, uhhh....

I don't know why, but it's kinda, well, different.

With the "bipod" deployed it really looks like an AK.

If you look closely at the ad it says that the stock holds a spare magazine.  If you look really closely at the stock you can see a spare magazine that happens to resemble that of an AR-15/ M-16 series magazine.

That folding bipod is a unique idea, I kind of like it.

As for grabbing a hot barrel, true, but I think this rifle would be very handy for keeping in a trunk for those who can do so legally, and a quick shot at a coyote or raccoon, rather than sustained shooting.

VERY interesting.  I wonder if it would fit into a  BMW motorcycle saddlebag?  I could see a place for it on the boat too.

BTW:  those of you that own one of the pistol caliber carbines,  how do they hold up?  any problems?  Local gunshop got in a slew of them, and I'm interested in the one that takes 9mm Beretta mags.

I've got the SUB2000 in .40/Glock22 mags.  I really like the idea of the carbine that uses the same mags as my Glock, so I carry it in my car trunk as a companion to the Glock 22 in my Glove box.

I've only fired it a few times, but I was impressed with the accuracy and ease of use.  The mags are a little hard to drop out, though, because of the position of the mag release.  The charging handle is small and can be a pain, but the rifle really rocks when you want it to.

As far as I know, no, they're still in business, over in Cocoa (FL). Before this current rotation, I was shooting a couple of times (at Spaceport GC) with a fella who works there, and I am not sure but for some reason a mention about the .223 sounds familiar.

I doubt they are going out of business unless they are total idiots, as I see those P32's EVERYWHERE.

The sub 2000 in .40 is OK, but nothing to write home about.

Wonder what kind of mags it uses and if it is accurate

Excellent ..thanks for posting this and the pics..
A little semi auto steyr scout (almost) ...now if they allowed that rail over the entire length so a low power scout scope could be mounted.....
I am getting one...
Looks like fun....
And no evil pistol grip....you can have a flash hider... a real one...just like the M1A ...only two evil features correct?

My bet is they'll NEVER go out of business as long as they keep making the slimmest, lightest, most "punch per ounce", best bargain-in-a-bellygun ever made:
(ta..ta..ta..daaaa!)    [:D]

The LEGENDARY KEL-TEC P32!!!!!!!
                       [smash]
OK, go ahead all of you Beretta Tomcat owners, whine away....but that obese, overpriced little fatty-wannabee pistol of yours with the 28lb trigger pull can't even polish my KelTec's shoes!  You're not worthy!  You're not worthy!

A 16" barrel, sling attachment points, a flash suppressor and a solid forearm with a Harris attachment point would da been excellent. Haven't even seen it for real yet and am already criticizing. What a great idea though! Definitely getting one if it is reasonably priced tho.

Actually, if you look at the bottom of the stock in the top rifle, you can see the 30 round AR mag being stored in there. Using common magazines is a smart feature of KT guns.

My (actually friend's) S2k is a very very accurate and handy gun. If the price on these is reasonable, I'm going to be first in line to get one.

Not sure about this, but the folding stock may not be "evil" on this rifle, since the rifle can't be fired with the stock folded. Seems to me that it's really more of a quick-disassembly feature than a folding stock, since (A.) the folded section also includes part of the fire control components, and (B.) it renders the gun partially disassembled (and inoperable).

I have read several times that if the rifle is totally inoperable while folded, then it is a "folding rifle" not a "folding stock".  Other folding KelTec rifles are considered to not have "folding stocks" using the same rule.
