80% of the time its my ol'reliable '91 Dodge Spirit 4 banger. The other time spent driving the '98 Nissan Pathfinder - the wifes truck.

Aw hell, I get the firearms, she gets the nice vehicle - fair enough for me.

I get to drive the hand me downs.  Actually, I am driving what used to be our nice car.

When we got married we had and still have a 90 Mazda 626 and a 94 Honda Civic Coupe.  The Mazda belonged to the wife and the Honda to me.  After getting married she started driving the Honda because it was in much better condition.  It drove me nuts because that was my car.  Anyways she ran the Honda into some mail boxes and totaled it.  We bought it off the insurance company for $300 and now I get to drive it again.  She took over driving the Mazda again.  When she got pregnant we decided that we needed a newer vehicle.  So we bought a 97 Jeep Cherokee Country.  She drives that now and I'm still stuck with the Honda or Mazda.

I should elaborate on that.  My car was lowered a bit so I think that added to the problem.  I think a majority of the damage came from the Dukes Of Hazard action off the persons driveway.

A Sheriff brought my wife home and she was just balling.  I finally got her to tell me what happened and I couldnt stop laughing.  She said she turned her head and all of a sudden she heard and felt a huge crash.  She looked forward and saw mailboxes sliding up the windshield and then she saw them flying in the rear view mirror.  I got her calmed down enough to go out and get the car.  On the way to the car I was thinking, ohh it cant be that bad it was just mailboxes.  We pulled up and I was just amazed!  The front bumper was smashed.  There were scrapes up the hood, windshield and roof.  The back bumper was hanging off, the back end of the car was bent up, and the trunk wouldnt shut.  I go to get into the car and my muffler was sitting in the front seat.  The highway patrol officer kindly put it there for me.  I was simply amazed, so was the insurance adjuster.

I have owned quite a few compact SUV's, and by far my rodeo is the best value. Bang for the buck that is, not to say there is anything wrong with other SUV's. The rodeo has taken more abuse than a Blazer that I had.

2002 Honda Insight.   Averages me about 57 miles per gallon.  More on the freeway.

From Austin, TX to the coast of Californistan, south of LA only took me 23 gallons of gas.  Round trip averaged 62MPG.

From Austin to Fort Worth, averaged 72MPG.

A little limited, considering it's a two seater, but it's great for commuting to work and such.

YMMV, mine always kicks ass.

1978 Cherokee Chief 4wd. 2 door. It has Qudratrac 4wd, with low range lever under my seat, AND emergency drive vacum switch in the glovebox.  It has every possible "extra" that could come in 78- tilt, cruise, air, ps, pb, sunroof, tow package, Levi interior, factory brush guard, V-8 with automatic tranny, etc., etc.

I get about 11mpg city and 15mpg hwy.

I love this Jeep!

Ford was working on an Escape hybrid that's supposed to get around 40MPG.  Don't think it will be 4WD, tho!

I keep hearing they're doing it, then that they're scrapping it, then they're doing it, then they're scrapping it... who knows for sure?

It's my opinion that the American auto industry and oil industry giants are all in a big circle jerk, keeping us driving vehicles that get shitty gas mileage.  Right now, we're at the worst average economy in 27 years.

Mine is an 89 Isuzu Trooper with the 2.8 Chevy V6.

I have an Eddie Bauer Explorer, but it's not 4WD and not as fun to drive, king of like driving a Land Rover.

It's got just over 100K and I expect another trouble free 50-100K.

It has got to be nice to be able to get good gas milage! I don't think I ever got better than like 22 mpg!
