I've tried them all and found Stopzilla to be the absolute best. Its small, not a resource hog, extremely easy to use, and blocks everything. You can find a trial copy here:

Panicware's pop-up stopper works pretty good for me... one thing I like is that you can hold down the ctrl or shift key to let through a popup that you might want (like the board code/smiley pop-ups). Best of all, they have a free version. [url]http://www.panicware.com[/url]

Panicware is good if you must use IE, otherwise just switch to Mozilla. Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Scripts & Plugins -> and turn off Open Unrequested Windows. Boom, no more pop-ups ever. (not even a quick flash)

This on is good as well, it will kill those annoying floater ads, the fake error messages, flash movies, ect. (unless you tell it not to.) highly configurable. 30day trial. integrates into IE. has a little toolbar presence for easy quick access. |

There are very few popups I want to go thru. However, this site use`s some like the board code and smiley windows. You will here a sound when the popup is blocked and if you think its something you want to see, hold the ctrl key down and reload the page with the refresh button. |

in addition to IE-SPYAD [url]http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~ehowes/resource.htm[/url]. Haven't seen pop ups in long time.... |

Here is another vote for proxomitron. I use it to kill adds, banners and pop-ups. Or, you could just use Opera, a great browser. I use both. |

I seem to be one of the sheep using the big company's product. But I rarely have pop-ups. And if one gets through I drag it to the pop up trashcan and never get it again.

Another vote for Opera here. It has an option "refuse pop-up windows".
Not only is it quicker than other browsers, you can turn off images on a page so they don't waste bandwidth getting downloaded. Very useful on "free" sites with a lot of banner ads. And most of the useful menu items aren't buried six layers deep like on IE and Nutscrape. |
