I get the feeling from reading the post re:  HEAT that most of the members(except the LEO) seem to side with/pull for/connect with/picture themselves as the robbers in that shootout.
Why is that? Or am I wrong?
A couple of thoughts:
The robbers are using mostly full auto AR's and this site is called ar15.com
We like to see ourselves as being able to get out of a hopeless situation with the use of massive amounts of firepower
Gunowners distrust the gov't - the way the gov't looks at the 1st v. the 2nd amend.

Am I off?

I always identified best with Val Kilmer's character.

Pacino has the best lines, though.

Darn it, people, now I have to watch it again!

I don't know who I identify with the most, but I was definitely rootin' for Neil and his "crew" throughout the movie.

I would have to say Neil mainly because I am always the planner and the one who takes care of all the others in my unit. I also like Chris because he is the reach out and touch someone shooter and also he had the nerve to do what it took when he saw the cops coming and he was driving a Vette and he loves his family. Then of course you got Sizemores character who I side with on his no BS matter of handling things. But to pick one I would say Neil.

Natalie Portman's neglectful father.

BTW, I once had dinner with the guy who played "TV man", the homeless guy who witnessed the armored car robbery.
