Heard a rumor from a good source in the industry that Shooters.com was going TU after the first of the year.  Anybody else heard this?

That's what they say, kinda.

From shooters.com:
AllVertical is going out of business, but we are making every effort to keep the Shooters.com community together by transitioning it appropriately. Our Talk Rooms will remain open for postings by current registered users.

Yup.  They host(ed) the Fulton Armory site among many others, and they left a lot of people scrambling to find a new host.  From the rec.guns newsgroup:
As some of you may have heard, Allvertical.com / Shooters.com is going out of business and will no longer be hosting any web sites.  While I'm not going to loose any sleep over this, the way that they did it was not cool and has left many companies and organizations scrambling to find new hosts at the last minute, on the eve of a major holiday.

Allvertical.com / Shooters.com only informed a small portion of their hosting customers that they were pulling the plug.  Many of us were not contacted in any way, shape or form by them and only found out 2nd hand yesterday.  Also, there is no mention that they are pulling the plug on any of their web sites.

To add insult to injury, myself and many other web masters of sites hosted by Shooters.com got spammed by some losers at Thegunmuse.com trying to take advantage of the situation and get us to use them as a host.
