I would think the added weight of the barrel would cause too much friction when it unlocks and will malfunction like crazy

No problem. This one's in 10mm, but they make 9mm and .45 as well. 1911's too.

If this is for an SBR project...I thought of this as well..but then decided that a longer barrel is kinda pointless...yes you get a little more velocity...but accuracy doesn't really improve...it can even be argued that SHORTER barrels (as long as they stabilize the bullet sufficiently) are actually MORE accurate than longer barrels...shorter barrels are stiffer and have less sag to them, and better harmonics.
So if you are going the "SBR" route with the sig brace and a Hera Triarii kit, or a RONI kit...I say just keep the factory 4 or 5 inch barrel. |

OP, my advice is to save up and buy the MPX pistol when it comes out. IT comes with a arm brace that works just like a stock.

I tried making 16.1" for use with the Roni kit but while I was able to get a design to function well, accuracy was crap. The way the barrel locks up, adding the extra leverage (weight) created very inconsistent grouping. Best I got was in the 4-5" range at 25y.

Yup. Kriss makes a kit for the .45. You have to squish the spring a bit to get it to work with a standard 10mm magazine body, but it works. Either that or you can mod the feed lips on a .45 stick to grip the smaller rounds (bend em in towards the center) and they'll feed fine too. IDK if it'll feed with the Glock upper, but the Mech Tech is a big gonzo bolt with a heavy spring. It'll grab a round out of a black hole if you put it in front of the thing.
And yeah, the Mech Techs are heavy. Comes from running a 10mm in a straight blowback. It needs a BIG chunk of steel for the bolt. |

Kinda like a spring loaded hammer that hits the barrel muzzle after the round is fired. Some suppressors have the booster and some do not. This really depends on whether you are working with a fixed or tilting barrel. |
