What's Arfcom's favorite radar detector this week?

I know that Valentine One has been the reigning champion for a while now, but are there any new contenders?

Also, any mounting kits or mounting tricks you could pass on would be appreciated.

I recently switched to a V1, running a dedicated Droid and the YaV1 App, it's awesome! I'm using a visor pouch, keeps it hidden from LE and thieves.

I tried the Passport Max but returned it. I liked the false reduction, especially when taking the same route to work. But range didn't seem too impressive and the build quality of the mount and case was unacceptable for $549 imo. Ended up with the V1 - love the simplicity of controls, directional arrows, and range seems better. The case & mount are solid. Downsides - almost unusable in town, and I get a lot of K-band falses from semis (screw you Fed Ex).

Get the V1C and run the YaV1 app, allows you to manually lock out known falses. Also allows you to disable K-POP which will almost completely eliminate falses from vehicles.

This is what I run. It does very well. Laser detector is very good. Can pick up K and KA band that is pointed at you from as much as 1.5 mi out depending on topography. Even learned it could detect red light cameras when I drove through Chicago.

My 9500Ix has been absolutely tits.

Had it hard mounted in my BMW on a homemade bracket, and when I sold it, I transferred to my FJ. Still a great purchase.

The GPS function to remember fixed stations and signs, doors etc. is great.
