So my kids really like the movie and sing the song I heard them singing it and realized what they were saying.
Here are some the lines from the song. "We're the same, I'm like you, you're like me, we're all working in harmony" "Everything is better when we stick together" "Everything is cool when you're part of a team" "Have you heard the news, everyone's talking Life is good 'cause everything's awesome"Lost my job, it's a new opportunity More free time for my awesome community" "It's awesome to win, and it's awesome to lose" The bad guy in the movie is called "lord Business" The movie has a very collectivist theme to it and I do not think it is my any mistake My wife picked up on it too. |

Have you noticed that almost EVERYTHING OUT OF HOLLYWOOD has a socialist and left leaning perspective!!!!!

It does but at the same time the hero learns that free thinking saves the day and collectivism is not the way to be.
It makes fun of Starbucks, pop music, big buisness / big .Gov. I really liked it. |

View Quote Sounds like a lot of the commie talk I heard at OSUT in '95 at Ft Knox. You should probably encase your kids in concrete so they never learn the value of working as a team or community. |

Did you entirely miss the point of the movie about being the evils of being forced into mass conformity rather than letting people thrive as unique individuals?
THE WHOLE FUCKING MOVIE WAS ABOUT FIGHTING FOR INDIVIDUALISM INSTEAD OF SUBMITTING TO FATHER-KNOWS-BEST TYRANNY. Jesus. I fucking swear half of GD checks in their lunchbox and sock drawer for midget liberals, before they go to bed at night. |

Something tells me that you didn't actually watch the movie. The entire point of the movie encourages the viewer to be a free thinker. To throw away the directions, and build what you want to build. The story was told from the imagination of a child who has a workaholic father who spends his free time on a Lego City hobby, and pays little attention to his child. President Business represents the work that keeps the father from spending time with the son. |

Worse was the movie preview that my local cinema showed just prior to show time--
A blatant attempt to normalize homosexuality; aimed at kids. |

OP I've discovered its just better to not talk about that stuff here. Just laugh to yourself when you read thread titles like:
"Idiot liberal tells me hunting is cruel while stuffing cheeseburger in her mouth" "Why do so many millennials support democrats?" "I was called racist for carrying a gun" "Grade school play has lesbian sex scene" "Why are young males so worthless?" etc etc But no, Hollywood has absolutely no influence on the developing minds of our children. Not. One. Bit. |

Nobody is really arguing that point. The OP is so far off the message of The Lego Movie that it's comical, and some of us are having fun with it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I have actually heard some people say that Legos are right-wing propaganda because some of the sets come with guns.

The evil regime has a collectivisit theme to it.
The story is about a regime that demands conformity with their ideals or else you get hunted down by their overly militarized police force. The song is part of their brainwashing propaganda. To me, this sounds an awful lot like the current administration. (and the writers/directors have said in interview that's where some of their inspiration came from) Of course the film also makes the point that point that being totally individualistic makes it difficult to work as group. Both extremes have problems. Lord business is lord business (and not lord something-else) because he's the kid's dad so needed to have a dad-type job but it also had to be a job that gave him authority in the lego world. Lord Lumberjack or Lord Dentist might not have worked so well - bit less plausible that they might be able to take over the world. I found the movie to be extremely well balanced. It's pro using your imagination & having fun and anti forcing people to do what you want. |

Something that a lot of the auto-snark here is missing out on is that the OP didn't say he watched the movie. he said he heard his kids singing a song from it, and didn't like what he heard. If he jumped to an unfair conclusion, he at least clearly explained how he got there, unlike the pack who have figured out that (gasp!) he didn't actually see the movie.
Criticism for not watching movies from those who cannot or will not read. |

I think you're missing the bigger picture of the very serious and very real Duplo threat. The ending was chilling and prophetic, "We're here to destroy you."
