I dont know much about scanners, but the listing says that scanners like these were banned 5 years ago. |

Scanners sold in the USA have the cell phone freqs blocked. Authorized personnel can buy the unblocked versions. |

How bout getting one from Canada & having it shipped down to you??? With the prices in Canada you should be able to score a really good deal without any problem.
I've got a old bearcat 220XLT that has a freq range from from a low of 29.0 to a high of 956MHz and it's great for everything local (except picking up the fire department's trunked system for handheld & vehicle radios, but it does pick up their dispatch) |

Make sure you get a [b][i]trunking[/i][/b] scanner. If you don't, you might only be listening to one side of the conversation if the P.D. you're monitioring has a modern communications system.

Pre-ban scanners are okay. Just that the cell phone freaks were locked out of the reception range after that date. We get cordless phone stuff all the time. (The freaks are twice the frequency of some of the local agencies we listen to.) Seems that if the frequency happens to be exactly half another frequency, it can bleed through..... Scott |

Our local agencies (all covering small areas) do not use trunking. But we have like ten County freaks. And I only know the frequencies for County One and County Two..... Scott |

I think some scanners now let you set "private line codes" so that you only get the agency that uses that frequency [b]AND[/b] PLC.....
