I decided I wanted an AR after shooting a friend's gun. Did a search on MSN and I've been a happy member for over two years.

From ArmaLite.com after getting my postban ArmaLites.  It was all downhill from there, with the addiction to prebans especially.

I just guessed there was a web site out there.  My first attempt (www.ar-15.com) landed me at Wilson Combat.

I bought an HBar about 4 yrs ago.  Went out shopping for accessories and stumbled across this page.

Didn't buy anything for it other than ammo and decided to come back - lurked for a while and registered this past summer.

Been downhill since.  Bought another AR (Bushy) and need lots more.

Of the ARFCom members I have met, all have been great people.  I like this forum a lot.  Gun people are good people.

I personally hold Grock responsible for this.  I used to come home, watch TV, and then go to bed.  Now, I go to work, come home, sit on here for hours, watch tv, walk the dog, sit on here, sleep for a bit and wake up do it all over again.

thanks grock.

I actually heard about it from SniperWolfe. He was on the site all the time so I thought  it was one of those cult sites where people are all crazy. Then I got a Mauser and it had a bolt problem so I came here and haven't looked back since. I'm now saving money for my first AR. Bushmaster XM15 A2 20".

I don't remember exactly. I think it started when I was on rec.gun, followed some links, and would up here. I quickly got addicted to the huge variety of intelligent people (rec.guns didn't have as many people, but they were still intelligent) and the ability to access the forums from any computer anywhere.

I found AR15.com while doing a web search the day AFTER I had shot the Colt MT 6731 I bought.
I wish I had found it before I had shot it.
A turned down a preban Colt Sporter (don't remember the model number, it had all the goodies) as it was more expensive and my wife had given me strict orders "to only buy the rifle you showed me".
I walked into California Police Equipment in El Cajon, Ca and saw they had 4 brand new Colt AR15's on the counter. The two postban AR15's were going for $745 each, the two prebans were going for $945 each in 1997.
The owner offered me one of the prebans for $925 if I bought it right then.

Either Glock Talk or The Firing Line, can't remember which.  Finally saved enough $ ('bout a year) and got my first AR and joined.

Back in 97 or 98 when I started playing on the net. My old shift partner is big into computers and helped me along. He first told be about Sniper Country and then AR15.com. At the time I had owned two AR's and thought I knew a thing or two about the rifle. Boy was I wrong. Been coming here just about every day since. Learn something new all the time. I do not remember what happened but I had to reregister after one of the updates.

When I was a true newbie, when I had absolutely no knowledge of ARs at all, I happened to stumble upon this site while searching for info on ARs.

This is the BEST gun site I've ever seen, and I'm glad to be a part of this community.

If I remember correctly, I believe I found this site while at The Firing Line where I was mostly involved in handgun discussions. I checked in here and immediately became interested in getting another AR-15 (I had owned a Colt which I bought in the late seventies, with collapible stock and no forward assist.) It was a hell of a good shooter and like a dumbass I traded it off. After lurking here and asking a few questions I bought a Bushmaster w/AK47 type muzzlebrake, then added a Jewell trigger and installed it with help from some members here and a Trijicon ACOG 3x24. It never ends! Then bought two flattop uppers, a DPMS and a RRA both with heavy bbls.
Both of these uppers will shoot under 1" @ 100 yds. with reloads. Today I am posting for the first time as a Gold Member.

Asked a question about AR's over at Predator Masters and some one was kind enough to tell me about this site. Got all the information I needed and am still learning new things everyday. Somewhere in the process I was smitten with the AR purchasing disease and after extensive researh have come to the realization-THERE IS NO CURE.

....its nice to still get my weekly $500 check from the ATF as an informant.. errrr ... snitch...plus AR-15.com is both entertaining and informative. I've been lurking here since 1998 or 1999 and have brought about 50 firearms related convictions since first posting here!! My efforts have been so successful that I once went to dinner with Janet Reno and Louis Freeh..........

But seriously - I first starting posting in 1998 on the old board if I remember right - I think a friend told me about the website or I found it surfing the net- probably a google search of "chicks with guns". And no I am not from the government......

i found the old ar15.com through free republic.com a long time ago. it took me a while to get used to the "new board"--i liked the old one better.  but like most things, you get used to it and the format is not nearly important as those who use it.
that's why i still make this site must viewing every single day.
