You may have already tried this, but go see the Training NCO at your local National Guard Unit. We have bunches of this stuff for teaching land navigation and map reading classes.

What kind of maps do you plan to use?  If your using standard 7.5 min USGS topo maps you should be using a UTM Grid Reader.
