screw the socialist bastards. THEY allowed it to happen. THEY either sat on their asses, did nothing, or even VOTED for the very things that got them in this mess. I don't think MY tax dollars should help those that the Caliban is screwing.

So, I take it that ALL Cali voters supported Grey Davis, Feinswine, et. al.?
There's a lot of good folks in Cali, just not enough of them in the cities where they could offset the Libs. Seems like some people who always bash Cali paint with too broad a brush. |

I don't know about Nevada, but Arizona is one of the few states in worse financial condition (per capita). Our social net is much less comprehensive than Calis (I think). As to federal bailout of ANY state - never. It is up to the people running each state to figure out how to tax, and what servies to offer. If they fail, their replacements get a chance. |

I wrote and asked my assemblyman, Tom Harman to hold out for an amendment to limit state spending. Here is his reply.
Dear Mr. (Nightstalker)[;)], Thank you for your recent email. Please know that I, along with my Assembly Republican colleagues, intend to do just what you suggested--hold out for an Assembly Constitutional Amendment that would limit spending. I am eager to begin the new legislative session on January 6th. We nned to put a lid on attempts at new and higher taxes and start making cuts to our bloated state budget. Breaking up California into north and south won't solve any problem, as the north will have San Francisco, and the south will have Los Angeles. All that will do is adding TWO more liberal senators to the roster.
Lest we forget, California took in all the hippies 30 some years ago in the sixties. If we haven't, they'd still be in YOUR states screwing YOU over. |

I live in California...have all my life. Alot of the gays and liberals are from outa state or outa country. Gays don't breed you know.
As far as our budget goes the Feds should not bail us out. This will get ugly and it needs to get ugly so people will learn. I doubt the welfare people will leave in droves to other staes, most are immigrants anyways. Sgtar15 |

On one hand, I'm vehemently opposed to any federal bailout, but on the other, California has been asking the feds to control our border for years. Basically they're saying, "Look, if you're not going to stop them from getting in here, at least throw some dollars our way so we can deal with it."
Sometimes California voters get it right, like a few years ago they overwhelmingly passed Prop 187, which would have cut off services to illegals. But Prop 187 opponents took it to court and overturned the will of the majority. Voters approved an "English Only" amendment a few years ago, and that's working out really well. If the state didn't make it so damned attractive, illegals wouldn't be coming in here in droves. But asking DemocRATs to cut social services is like asking a tiger to change his stripes. Ain't gonna happen. Tax hikes are inevitable. I hear they're already talking about a [i]retroactive[/i] tax hike, which I figure at a few thousand dollars per taxpayer. As if I'm not already taxed to death! [pissed] |

Honest reply.
Michigan in general and this area in particular used to have great jobs with really great pay for very little work or training. Those days are over, and there are no jobs and no good welfare. There are places with both, but our poor and lower class will not leave. They just will not check a map and find a place with jobs and welfare and walk down to the bus depot and get a ticket. I asked an old timeer how they got up here in the first place, given their lack of motivation to move, and he said in the 50s GM and Ford went down south and gave them jobs on the spot and then moved them all up here to break the unions by having a mixed black and white work force. Unless someone takes them by the hand and moves them they will not go. |

No. They'll go back to Mexico or Guatemala hopefully(or where ever the hell they came from). As for a federal bailout, God, I hope not. Can you imagine what a horrible precedent that would set? If a state can spend itself out of a viable fiscal existance and have the feds bail them out, what would stop liberal tax and spend types in other states from doing the same thing, which would result in a truly wrecked national economy. |
